If that was true, that he said at ht he was tired and needed to come off then fine, although I find it very strange,it is usually the manager who realises a player is tired,he had only just broken sweat, had big nose in his pocket,ok,some passes were a bit stray, but I thought he had a steady 45 mins, and to be captain of this club,in a derby to say he was tired............................no I'm not buying it

Kompany has said that he's made a promise with Guardiola and the medical staff to be honest with them instead of keeping anything to himself because he wants to play.

I'm sure he wanted nothing more than to play on, but if he did it could have ended like the Swansea game and another 2 months out.

So he was honest last week when he said he felt something in training and couldn't play Barca, even though he would have loved to lead us out in a huge game like that and he was honest with them at half time.

He needs to listen to his body instead of constantly pushing it past it's limits. I'm glad he's smart enough to do that.

That's fair enough, but I thought as soon as his replacement came on at ht,that we had a chance of losing the game, turned out I was right to assume the worse

I'm sorry but the words 'I'm tired take me off' should never come out of the captains mouth during a derby match. Shocking mentality.

Im sure it was more along the lines of "I can feel the tension in my hamstring/groin or calf" something like that. I cant imagine it would have just been "boss im shattered can a come off"

He's played a grand total of about 1500 minutes of football in 18months. The bloke is a walking injury. He's promised to be as strict as possible on himself and listening to the medical staff for once and after 77 minutes four days before he felt 45 was enough last night. I actually don't think he should have played at all last night as I think he's MONTHS away from playing two games in a week.

That's not Kompany's fault though - he has to trust his teammates are competent at their jobs.

If he stayed on and got injured 10 minutes in we'd still have had 40 minutes with Kolarov on, but we'd also have an injured captain again.

Things are really strange with Kompany and his comeback. Celtic game he just walked off towards the end of the game (Was it Celtic cant remember but it was very wierd), then last night he comes off tired at half time. ok fair enough he might have been tired...... But it seems he is being really touchy/careful about his injury and come back.

From Pep's point of view he doesnt care about that as much as getting a reliable squad of players. I am sure he doesnt have players who are "delicate" in his plans. I think 1 more breakdown/injury and Kompany will be out of Peps plans for good.

I know yea,but it is hard for us as fans to understand at times,we all know he has had a torrid time this last year, but he looked comfortable last night, and dare I say it,in total control,I mean even Sunday after 77 mins,he ran off the pitch like a spring chicken, but we only see half the tale I suppose

He looks like a broken man to me..... the doubt is there and he was rusty or simply out of his depth mentally last night.... i would not have started him if he wasn't up for it

total control, are you sure? I'd always give Vinnie the benefit of the doubt based on the past but some of his play / decision making last night was diabolical

I really hope he can recover to get close to the Vinnie of old...
