Phil the Face is going to start his 8th consecutive game for the rags tonight after 28 injuries in 5 years.

Wilshere has played more minutes this season than in the last 2 combined.

I know they are much younger, but perhaps a sign that you can come back from a couple of years of constant injuries.

Perhaps he could adapt to the new game of positioning rather than the physical stuff like tackling.

Am I correct in thinking that his original due back from injury date was the Burnley game?

Hopefully we'll see him return to training and be involved soon, I feel the team needs his leadership at the moment, the air of frustration and dissatisfaction around the club is unbearable.

Maybe when Kompany returns and actually has had a run of back to back games, we might discover how important this players was and maybe still is. As it is now it's as almost we can't remember what it was like to have him in the side or like is was when he needed to miss another few games through injury.

Nice and slow with the return. Just ease him in.

I just have a feeling the next return will be the return.

Funny enough, I feel the same.... If anyone deserves some luck it's the big man..

I can see him putting a good few on the board between now and the end of the season, however, I also think he'll be going in the summer regardless!!

What makes you think that, is it just a hunch? He is so important to us that I would be incredibly pissed off if having waited two years for him to get fit either we chose to get rid or he chose to leave as soon as he is fit to play. I don't think the way we have set up over the last few years gives defenders much chance to look consistently good, I still think that is the case even with the change of manager, but I have no doubt if Kompany was fully fit and in the team, we would look much more secure at the back. Finding a replacement of similar calibre and influence will be nigh on impossible, we should give him every chance to get fit and once he is, do everything we can to hold on to him for as long as possible IMO.

Just my opinion mate, I've been fortunate enough to spend a little time in his company and his character, which is not hard to break down when you see him play, is one that won't be content to consistently sit on the bench. He'll get his game time at the moment out of necessity, but we won't hang around in the summer, it will force his hand imo....: he could do worse than going over to New York for a couple of seasons, get his badges then come home....

If there's one player from the mansour era who has the charisma and intelligence to manage us one day, it's vinny!!!!

So essentially you think that even if fully fit, Pep would have him on the bench (after summer signings). Fucking bonkers that if it turns out to be true.

We're can't rely on him regardless so for that reason alone his days with us are numbered.
I know it is a big "if" but if he does come back in the next few weeks and goes through to the end of the season without a recurrence of any of his muscle injuries then I would like to think he would not be judged on the injury problems of the last couple of years. There was a time when Sergio's muscles were pinging every time he sprinted but we didn't get rid and he seems to have got through that (touch wood and all that). Like I said, I know it is a big "if" but if he does get fit, for me he is pretty much the most important player at the club, anyone we sign should be playing alongside him, not instead of him. Only my opinion though and currently the jury is out at best in terms of whether he will get fit again, obviously.

You think he's too competitive and driven to play a squad role here, but also think he'd happily go into early retirement in the MLS as an alternative?

If he's competitive enough to leave then he won't be happy going to the MLS at 31.

And if he's loyal enough to CFG that he'd go to NYCFC so early then he's loyal enough to just play a smaller role at City.

Not to mention a designated player who is often unable to play through fitness reasons is the very last thing NYCFC need and he'd be saying goodbye to his Belgium career which is probably the one thing more important than his club career to him.

Let's just hope he'll be fit and ready to go again for us. VK in form would be the ideal partner for Stones. It would be good to have some backup for him, like Otamendi or Kolarov so as not to put too much pressure on him. Wouldn't want him to get injured again.

It's called 'pragmatism'......

You're going to be very shocked regarding his Belgium career then...

I speak in hope regarding a fitting end but city will never rely on Kompany the way they once have, the sooner you realise that the quicker you can view his serious options...

Playing a role for the CFG in New York isn't even comparable if his body can no longer sustain top league football, he isn't getting injured playing 20 games through intensity, it's happening every other game...

I hope I'm wrong but being pragmatic will be at the forefront of peps thinking....

My own opinion here is that VK is of managerial material and should stick around and learn off Pep. At the very least, if his injury problems should persist, he should have a senior role at the academy where he would be like a god to the young players there. I can see the possibility of him being a future manager here, the old way of thinking that managers should work their way up the ladder before getting a big job here not being necessary. He is one of the most influential personalities ever to be at the club and I believe he has everything in his makeup to be an influential manager for us.
