Vincent Kompany

No the comparison is valid , and only confirms that despite being great footballers they do not always make great managers, there are many more examples and some where great footballers do make great managers ,but the jury is out as far as VK is concerned he needs to be succesful in the Premier league or a top club in europe , then he might have the credentials to manage at the Etihad

Again everything you’ve said is a generalisation based on old footballers turning managers, there’s no substance about what Kompany has actually done, because anyone who’s watched his Burnley would say he’s got nothing in common with Lampard or Gerrard.

No one is saying he should walk into the City job in July, but there’s zero reason to bring Gerrard or Lampard into it.

I’ve watched a lot of Burnley this season and they play more like Arteta team than ours and his game plan of man marking yesterday was what Arteta did in the cup too..

Far too early for Vinnie to be considered for our managers position , he has done a good job at Burnley but he needs a few more years under his belt , he is a bright guy and will know too many legends of the game like Lampard and Gerrard get smoke blown up their arses because they have had a good couple of seasons.
Nexr season will provide a lot of answers , if he keeps Burnley up on a limited budget then he would have swam the channel in concrete boots , but he needs to manage a top six club for a while before progressing to one of the biggest in europe.
....and we all know and laughed at Ole....what's he doing now btw ??

I think anyone comparing Kompany to Gerrard or Lampard has not actually watched any of the football those teams played and is (no offence) just lazily lumping all ex managers in the same boat.

Steven Gerrard’s rangers didn’t win anything for 2 years and then after outspending the rest of the Scottish Premiership by 3 to 1, finally had a good season domestically (but an awful one in Europe).

Lampard took over Derby who finished 6th, got a load of loan signings in from top clubs and took derby to 6th.

Kompany walked into a Burnley side that a lot of people thought we’re headed for back to back relegations or a long time in the wilderness. They sold off over £70m of their best players and let their captain and big leaders go.

And he’s turned them into one of the best championship sides of all time. Warnock thinks they’re the best he’s ever seen in the division, plenty of others are saying they’re only second to the Reading side that got 106 points.

There simply is no comparison in the quality of football, the ambition in the style of play, or even the results between Kompany and the other 2.

The comparison has nothing to it. It’s just lumping former players together because it’s easy.
Celtic were going through some transitional changes the year rangers won it if I remember correctly, which to me devalued his accomplishment even further for me.

Yep.
Solskjaer walked into a man united side that were struggling and turned them round in his 1st season.
Look how it went afterwards.

I am expecting Vinny to be a succesful top flight manager tbh and the early signs are encouraging.

Hopefully he will get the time to develop
further elsewhere without too much hype and pressure.
It would be brilliant to have Vinnie back as manager , but only when he has proven himself , maybe in 5-10 years he will have the experience , he is such an articulate and intelligent guy , personally i think he will make a top manager he has all the attributes.

The thing that most impressed me about him was his comments about Vieira’s sacking at Palace. His analysis explaining why it was a poor decision was spot on. He’s a class act. As for being a future City manager, why not? He was in the best finishing school for managers of the future at City under Pep. And I’m sure he’ll follow in the footsteps of Xavi and Arteta. One day when Pep has gone, everyone will look back and likely see there was no better manager than him, ever. Enjoy Pep while he’s at City.

I am mate.

When he goes some of our fans will realise what he's done for us and will act like rags who still pole smoke GPC rather than accept we've had our time and support the next dude to do the best they can with what we have.
