Violence at Euro 2016

Can still remember as an 11 year old in 72 coming out of Bramall Lane and City fans singing "City, stick together" as they left the ground for the walk to the station.......and they needed to,my first experience of seeing football violence.

Its such a shame football fans cant just have a laugh like Eire and Sweden yesterday, some of my best days have been mixing with other teams fans.

I think even then you could mix with other fans and certainly meet good mates from other clubs. I met a couple of Millwall lads on a ferry back from France and as a result ended up visiting the Old Den on several occasions and had a great time there. So even the much disliked and feared Millwall were and still are quite open to non violent socializing.

Sounds like there's a bit of a 'super firm' being put together over in France.

Leeds, Millwall, Forest, Derby.....a lot of differences being put to one side for queen and country. An unprecedented situation.

The next few days are going to be very interesting in the Lens/Lille area
The time to do that has been and gone, that was while innocent fans were getting kicked in the head. We've been warned already now so anything they do to retaliate will be seen as looking for trouble, it will have to wait for another time, if they want revenge that much, do it outside of the tournament/France altogether.

We need to see Welsh and English having a good time on Thursday to prove times have moved on for us on the whole.

Can see some provocation from the Welsh and Slovakian fans, especially if they're losing.

Might work out good this for England and Wales qualification wise if the results don't go their way. Specially Wales if they are behind the Russians going into the last game, if you need qualification get the comrades to kick off and have them out of the tournament.

City fans looking after there own in the 70s is very true, went to Ellande rd late 70s with a mate, cup tie trevor cherry scored I think. Very scary after the game and some blue told us to stick with them on the way out, different times now I'm afraid.

No, you're not getting my point. The Russia fans were out of order. Some England fans were giving them a bit of shit (rightly so) and there are a few squabbles - we're fine up to that point. THEN, about 30 Russia fans break into a neutral (england) section and chase the 3/400 England fans that had been giving them shit behind the safety of the stewards.

All these England fans who were acting like idiots then run away like absolute cowards, if they would have stood their ground it would have been a non-contest.

The unfortunate truth behind all this is that the 'scene' in England is made up of young lads who have all the gear along with no bottle what so ever.

that was a neutral end wasn't it ? with large numbers of kids and families. i agree with the post below the type of england fan going isn't the type to fight or be able to. as someone has said the majority of fights seem to involve a big group of russians against individuals or a small group. put them up against england fans who do want a fight i think it would be a different story

I tend to agree with this logic really, the focus is on and if we play into their hands it would be pretty much the worst thing we could do.
Ok safety in numbers but don't instigate a thing or get pictured as a raging bottle wielding silhouette on the back of a bar on fire ffs.
