How many centre backs do Chelsea need?
They've got Cahill ,Luiz, Azpilacueta, Rudiger sent out Zouma on loan who liked excellent and sold Ake because they couldn't promise him the game time.
Now I know they need more depth this season because of CL but surely not at centre back.

It's a bit like us being in for MBappe and Sanchez!

To be honest I'd agree, one or the other would be great, both I think would unbalance the squad.

Maybe they feel Zouma is not ready yet. As they always play 3 at the back, I feel 5 CB's is probably the right amount so I could see why they want VVD. He is better than anything they have right now. Would take them to another level. Can start a counter with one pass.

If we sell Mangala there is no reason settling on a subpar CB, break the bank for Laporte/VVD even if they have spurned us in the past.

Maybe, but it has been reported that he may revert to a back four. Zouma was looking excellent for them before he broke his leg.
But there must be a reason if they are Conte is no fool but to me it's elsewhere that they need more depth.

I don't see them reverting to a back 4 as it would leave Luiz and Cahil exposed, their weaknesses are hidden in the back 3, so I think Conte will definitely stick with it.

But yea I agree it's elsewhere they need more depth, they've been linked to Drinkwater and I'm not sure if there are any links to attackers, very strange window for them as of now, was expecting a lot more.

I don't disagree. Actually I do. I think he and Alderwired are best. Wouldn't say Kompany is. He simply hasn't played enough to rank.

But that said, being "best" on another team playing a different style doesn't guarantee you'd be good here.

I think this guy will. But I strongly doubt he'd be as good for us as he is for Soton.

Looks like a move to Liverpool is now unlikely.
If we signed VVD, it would be a magical signing as he is the best CH in the league.
I doubt it will happen though as our money looks to be targeted elsewhere.
