Virgin Broadband

I was using a virgin superhub 2 for Internet.
It kept dropping.
2 Amazon Echoes could not stay connected.
It was so crap I got rid of Virgin and went to BT.
Oh what a mistake!

After 10 days with no phone and internet for only 2 days I cancelled and went back to Virgin as a new customer.
I got a superhub 3 and so far it has worked faultlessly and a big reduction for 12 months as a new customer!

Just left virgin for hyperoptic and im in awe at how fast it is. Just incredible upload/download speeds

Anyone interested in joining Virgin Media? I can get you on a mates rates package which is cheaper than the standard package, this would be for new customer only. If anyone's interested send me a PM.
I would like to know if virgin will refund me 1 day loss of usage of my services? They just informed me that important maintenance work will be carried out in my area, and tv broadband etc will be off, why should I pay for that day? They think they can send a letter apologising and expect me to pay for a service I ain't receiving?

I'd assume they would just contact customer services and they will be aware of work going on and offer a discount.

Are you able to go back as a new customer if you were previously one at the same address? Didn't think that was allowed?

If so I'm gonna do it because the new customer offers are more than I've got in my current package at 30% off the price!

We're with them on their 150 mb package (more than enough for me!). When using an Ethernet it's absolutely fantastic, however, the speeds over the Wifi leave a lot to be desired - I think it's mainly the poor quality router they ship with. Have been considering buying a third party one.

My router's fine mate. I make YouTube videos, and I uploaded (via Wifi) a 2.4gb video, which is absolutely huge, in under 3 minutes! Couldn't believe how fast it was. That's on the 150mb package too.

Phone them, should be worth around £2 to you...

I'd personally value my time more than the £1 credit. Victor Meldrew alive and well

I've got Tv XL with sports and movies Multi-room 2 boxes and I think 2nd from top broadband. Plus a landline that I don't use, I don't even know the number or have a home phone.
I'm currently paying £115 and month and have been doing for the last 3 years is it worth phoning up about a discount or am I paying the going rate.

Should I phone around and ask about prices, I've never switch anything before, still with the same british gas and eon, sepearate bills. Just couldn't be arsed before but maybe I should start thinking about this switching stuff

You’re paying over the top mate. I have my TV with Sky and I’ve got the full package - normally nearly £90 a month but paying £39pm on a 12 month contract after telling them I was leaving. Broadband and phone are with Virgin - 100 meg - and was on a special offer of £32pm as a new customer for 12 months. That ran out recently and they ramped it up to around £44 pm so I told them unless they could match BT’s offer for new customers of £29pm with a £130 pre-paid MasterCard chucked in then I was leaving. Best they could offer me was just over £34pm so I told them to forget it and put the wheels in motion with BT. Got a call back from Virgin the following week and they not only matched BT but bettered it - £22pm for 18 months plus a £70 credit on my bill so effectively I’m paying just over £18pm until December 2019, making a grand total of £57+ per month for full TV package and 100 meg broadband and phone.

As for your gas and electric, get on uswitch and you’ll save a shit load.

Morning. Moving soon and the new place has the virgin cables. It seems to be the fastest around and with a tv deal isn’t too bad price wise. Don’t need sport as there’s a pub over the road for that. Does anyone have virgin and would you recommend it and is there an introduce a friend whereby you’ll get a reward for introducing me? If so I’m happy to help you out on that.

Now't wrong with Virgin. My Broadband is rapid (@150Mbps). TV is good, and the Tivo box is decent enough.

I strongly recommend VM and have used them for many years.

There is a introduction offer I would gladly share with you too.

Brilliant when it works, but god help you when you need to ring them with an issue. Some areas, like mine, are really old networks laid by NYNEX. Always worth checking their online forums for area problems.

Double check their upload speeds too. Used to be poor in comparison to the Openreach network but think they've improved recently. Upload was a real problem for me when I was working from home and connecting to the office VPN.
