Even if you are not a fan at the level of MES, and you like guitar bands I can't understand how you wouldn't like some of The Smiths songs. JFM is a genius guitarist and the Rickenbacker chords are a delight and an inspiration for loads of musicians in the past three decades. Brandon Flowers described him as his hero, brilliant band and iconic tunes with a couple of Blues to boot.

Worst thing was, I was driving. We all planned to attend a Smiths disco in some posh bar across from the arena on the docks from 11pm to 3am. So I thought (as a driver) if I necked 4 pints before the gig then by the time it got to 3am I would be fine to drive home some 6 hours later.
20 minutes later the gig is over and no way am I driving.... so had to remain alcohol free until the disco ended and even then recall nodding off down the M62 as all in the car (suitably pissed) had crashed out. Was a tough drive home.....
