Vonky in the rain

Named my daughter after him and then he went a gave a stupid goal away against the rags. You can change your friends but you can't change your kids names!

he weren't too bad old Vonky, lacked a bit of pace but always gave his all and was excellent in the air, had a belting konk too!!!
think this is the game you're on about

A couple of years after he left us I was out with a couple of mates and we saw him stood at the side of the raod,it looked like he was waiting for a taxi or being picked up and had a largish sports bag infront of him .

We started up a little drunken chant of only one Michel Vonk.

After we finished our little chant he said with a worried look on his face

"No No No I not come back for city I just come to collect my things". He then slung his bag over his shoulder and ran down the road.

It must be a dutch thing

If memory serves me correctly (which is dodgy at the best of times) wasnt the rearranged match the game which involved that ridiculous bit of Brazilian skill by Rocastle and we won 2-1?

Correct! and it was also Francis Lee's first game as chairman. Back to the original game I remember shivering on the Kippax as i'd been drenched on my way into the ground and was almost glad when it was called off. I also recall Tony Coton going absolutely mental when the ref blew time and stopped the game.

This was the only time I ever stood on the kippax. My Da used to park on wilbraham road school but the field was waterlogged that day so we had to park on the street - cue smashed window when we got back. Freezing all the way home. Not a great day all in all!

That was my little boy's first game. As we trudged home piss wet through I said, "Welcome to City son". He's in Afghanistan now but I don't think the two events are related.

He scored a bullet of a header at Sheffield Wed think we won 3-1 or 3-2 or did we get beat that score, fuck getting old memories going.
