Voter ID is back and this time its serious.

Perhaps the pro-ID camp are more likely to be prejudiced against those nasty people from < insert country and/or ethnic group and/or socially disadvantaged group > who wouldn't have an official ID because they are < as above >.
All those millions of illegal immigrants and work shy layabouts and mentally sick people and disabled scroungers and sick old people won't have a £34 driving licence and will never apply for a £72.50 passport and will not pay £1,330 to become a naturalized British Citizen will they.

Call me old fashioned but I’m fairly sure illegal immigrants aren’t eligible to vote

Putting aside the principle, what makes you think those that would vote Conservative would be more likely to have or accept having to have IDs, and that non-tory voters wouldn't?
I suspect the main evidence is the fact that the Tories are proposing it. Given that they're not proposing a national ID card system (in which case, I'd imagine the main motivation is that some friend of Boris happens to have an ID card company), and the problem of voter fraud is absolutely miniscule, they will have without a doubt done studies that show that it will harm the opposition more than themselves.

as long as the commies are fighting like ferrets in a sack boris is home and hosed for the foreseeable

Maybe but refugees, asylum seekers and illegal immigrants are all different things.
Understand that, although thought someone entering the country illegally then applying for leave to remain would be classed as a refugee. Could be wrong as not as subject I am well versed in. The document I posted does also include asylum seekers.
