I remember one opportunity where he could have squared it to Phil. The wife was fuming and giving it to Rashford blue style. However as usual I was the voice of reason and suggested that you couldn't blame Rashford for taking the shot on because we were 3 up at the time and he was on for a hat-trick in a World Cup and not many players get that opportunity.

She told me to shut up.

A poster of your longevity should know the rules.

The thing with Rashford is if he could get up his head up regularly and pick out a player for final ball, he would be very difficult to play against.

You everyone knows 99% of the time, he’s just going to shift it to the side and smash it goal bound as hard as possible. Obviously now and again it comes off like tonight but most of the time it’s just poor and he could pick out a teammate instead.

He’s never really improved since he come onto the scene for United. I think some good coaching could’ve made him into a far better player that no defender would like playing against.

You're right. 3 up against Wales and choosing to shoot instead of getting his head up can be forgiven easily. In a tight knockout game against France and the watching support won't be quite as forgiving.

I wonder whether Gareth has put his arm around him, congratulated him on scoring but also pointed out (in a classy, subtle manner) that he can't miss his 1st half opportunity and not get his head up more often in the latter stages.

I doubt Gareth is that demanding of the squad personally and probably feels it was a near perfect performance.

The guy who set up two goals first game. Set one up on a plate for Rashford who misses a sitter and lays an excellent assist to Foden yesterday? Him and Foden are the first names on the team sheet it's not even a debate
Kane is a great player, genuinely top drawer but without that assist to Foden today and his ball to Rashford which he fucked up he wasn’t involved at all. I appreciate that sounds mad as football is about ‘moments’ when we are talking in hindsight and saying he was involved in big moments is a valid argument, yet even as a spurs fan you surely see that tonight he was a shadow of the player we know he is.
