Yet, so far, the difference isn’t that great.

Haaland scores a higher percentage of our goals, but our overall win percentage is pretty similar.

Haaland also plays for the best team in the world, so increasing that win percentage even further is a tough ask :-)

In games against decent organised opposition (like the USA) that England are expected to win, Kane should be playing further forward with Foden and Grealish either side of him. If we're playing the likes of Spain when we wont see a lot of the ball then perhaps one of Rashford/Saka/Sterling should start over one of Foden/Grealish to offer that counter-attack threat.

International football is all about keeping possession, so we should play players who can keep the ball and are used to that with their clubs. So Foden and Grealish should be starting every game.

With that in mind, and if he is fit enough, Phillips has to start alongside Rice, I thought Henderson looked lost today.

We looked much better with Foden causing havoc, but then that will come as no surprise to anyone other than Southgate.

The overall game was typical of a mid table Prem encounter, with not many moments of quality.Second half improved and was a decent watch, all the City lads giving very good accounts of themselves - Stones was probably my MOTM,with Phil also a contender.

The clamour to praise Rashford far beyond his actual contribution and performance is fucking nauseating. He was atrocious in that first half and, just like Henderson, looked well off the pace and out of sync with everyone else.He scored a good freekick and took his second well too, despite the greediness......but to award him MOTM and try and make out it was almost a one man show is fucking comical.

Agree Rashford is a selfish player, and his 2 goals, whilst welcome, should have been saved.

This England would win this Spain.

Kane, Foden and etc are not Costa Rica.

Spain will fall precisely when them finds a high-level team in pragmatic mode and physically fresh, and that's England.

If Kane continues to play as an ersatz no.10, we will need a CF. When crosses came in he was on the 18 yard line.
