We did get smashed & humiliated but come on, some English fans are behaving as if you are kings of football after beating our shit side last night.
You're certainly miles better than us, you proved it last night but you've won one major tournament, ever, and that was at home, with every game at Wembley.
Of course you are a good side but you are not one of the big boys of international football, we'll leave that for the serial winners.
I hope you go on and win the whole thing, i have loads of English friends and i'd be happy for them but if you do win it, i hope a lot of your fans show some much needed humility.
Well International football fans are like that all over the world, where football is a big deal, it’s just some back and forth. If Wales beat England yesterday, we both know there would be so many shots fired from Wales fans too.
I have no problem with any fans, England included, getting carried away, thinking their side can win it and is great. It’s the best way to enjoy tournament football. As long as people don’t turn into knobs and spill over into needless conflict, which happens.
I’ve never cared much for the past, 1966 etc etc my parents were barely born then, never mind me. At the end of the day it’s the same country but a different set of players, it has no relevance to what happens today, no matter how much the media gush over it. Same with all other countries and their past winners, Which is why Uruguay are not “big boys” anymore.
England haven’t won anything for a long time. But they reached the semi final 4 years ago and a final last year, so they are proving they have been one of the “big boys” of international football in the past few years. Whether they go on to win something or get dumped out by Senegal on Sunday is another matter, but based on the most recent tournaments up to his one, England are one of the top teams in international football.
I think the large majority of English fans have some humility. Most you speak to will hope England can win but probably not expect it. You’ll get a percentage of knobs no matter which club or country you follow.
