Watching England in Scotland

Its the night before we go to Turnberry, so we are staying in Ayr, have booked a table in some sports pub, Thursday night we are in the 5 star at Turnberry, if we actually make it out of AYR-)
Ayr? Oh dear. They are still into cannibalism down there. Just play it by ear. Get in before the game and have a bit of Craic. You will be able to judge the atmosphere. With you there they will obviously be cheering on Denmark. Although a lot of unionist Rangers fans support England as they hate Scotland and love the queen. So you might outbumber normal Scottish fans. Enjoy it. Let us all know how you get on.

Having lived in Scotland for seven years (and generally loved the place) I have to caution you. Wearing England shirts in Ayr at night is likely to provoke trouble. A lot of those West Coast towns are rough after dark and they have their fair share of scumbags. Glasgow and Edinburgh city centres are usually ok but the advice about the difference between Rangers or Celtic pubs someone mentioned on this thread is good advice. Sectarian hatred based on the Old Firm rivalry has not gone away whatever the posh chattering classes up there like to pretend.
Scots are the warmest most friendly people you can encounter but, just like England, there is a mindless bigoted minority.

Booked on AyrB&B?

Wear an England top, in a Scottish pub, without an AK-47 ?
Fcuk that
I’ve found that most Scots are quite welcoming of the English, it’s only the minority that would kick off if you walked into a Scottish pub with an England top on. I got away with a free pint and had a laugh with the Scots in the pub. After the Croatia game, the walk home wasn’t great as I felt like the whole town had came out to give me shit, but it’s all fun.
