Watching England in Scotland

Just before the World Cup when Scotland qualified and England didn’t, as a student I went into a pub to watch Scotland v England in a warm up match. I asked for a pint of “heavy” and the barman immediately realised I was English. “Have this one on the house, ye can’nae help it, and it’ll drown your sorrows when we thrash you”. England undeservedly won 1-0 and the atmosphere was subdued.

Yeah, me against the ginger hordes on my lonesome.
The problem i had is that i pissed off the Celtic fans by hating the IRA & then pissed off the Rangers fans by hating the Union Jack.
None of them seemed to understand that no one gave a fcuk about religion in South Wales.
I still had a blast up there though, i just had to mix with the Mormons & Buddhists instead :)

The bottom line is everywhere you go you can meet bams. What you would find is the vast majority are sound as fuck and the worst would be taking the piss and all over these islands that is something we all do and love. You act like a decent guy and 99 9999 times you will be ok. We also hate taking liberties, so you woukd find it any **** was at it, someone would tell them to shut the fuck up.

Dublin...around 2007 AD...I walked into a busy town centre boozer and ordered up...punter further down the bar shouted ''you wont get served in here with that accent''...a bloke to my left weighed in "take no notice of that gobshite mate"...the two continued to go at each other before leaving for a straightner in the pub yard...by this stage my guinness had just settled....saw neither of them again..
