"Watching Football Is Not A Crime" - Etihad, Thurs 7.30pm

It just gets worse, I hate those C**ts so much!

A Rag at work just received this shite from IMUSA! They are beyond pathetic!

Hi Peter
All MUST members are encouraged to attend this special FSF event in Manchester tomorrow evening open to all supporters of all clubs held at The Etihad Stadium. It would be good to have a significant representation from United fans.

Indeed it would be ironic to see us outnumbering city in their own stadium - although clearly that isn't what this is about but it might motivate a few more Reds to turn up to prove what we all know - Manchester is Red.

Re: Watching football is not a crime - Manchester 1st March

Does anyone know where abouts in the ground this is being held and where I can park for it? Not a blue and not really familiar with the ground so simple instructions are welcome!

Re: Watching football is not a crime - Manchester 1st March

Just back from this. Interesting and quite depressing at the same time. Clearly the police consider that watching football IS a crime from some of the horror stories I heard.

First up was Rodney Rhoden, a name that will be known to many on here. He admitted he'd been a bit of a lad in his time but hadn't been involved in any trouble for many years (about 15 I think). Yet still he and his 18 yr old son get singled out for attention at games by police "spotters".

There was a question about Section14b Banning Orders, with the Chief Supt on the panel consistently claiming that the courts had upheld every one they'd applied for. Much to the audience's amusement, one fan said they hadn't upheld his and he knew of at least 2 others which the court had thrown out.

One awful story of a group of Carlisle supporters who were going to a game in Preston. There were 5 coach loads of them and they'd organised a venue near Preston which was going to lay on food and drink. The organiser told the police this and said they were happy to comply with any requirements the policwe had to escort them into Deepdale. Yet the police refused to talk to them and, at the last minute, told them to go straight to the ground via a certain route, meaning the club that they'd arranged to visit was out of pocket by a few thousand pounds.

One girl had apparently been issued with a banning order simply because she appeared in a group photograph with people described as known trouble-makers. Some incredible stories and not at all impressed with the senior policeman who was there. Sounds very reasonable, claiming that the vast majority of people are decent fans who just want to watch football yet people were telling him that that's not often the way we're treated.

On the upside, I met our very own Stevie B.

Re: Watching football is not a crime - Manchester 1st March

Nice seeing you there PB

Many stories that weren't nice to hear, inparticular Rodney Rhoden who according to himself is still singled out many years after he has involved himself in football violence.

Everyone deserves a second chance, it seems the police are treating many of us as Guilty until proven innocent (and hey even when you might be innocent we have evidence here to suggest you were with notable individuals and thus are guilty due to association)

I raised some issues with Peter Fletcher (shyed away from the mic and spoke off it) and have to say he came across as a alright guy.
Loads of post's on here from people who despise the guy, who really don't like him, but on the few occasions I have met him he's been sound with me and tonight gave me alot of time to speak and gave alot of his own time... and didn't have to as it wasn't in full view of those in attendance.

As for chief "Super"intendent Mark Roberts.... I didn't feel there was much resolve, just waffle with political spin that didn't seem for me to address key issues.

Privacy is a big big issue, most of the debate centred on this.

It was filmed actually and when the Chief Supt left, he clearly had two "minders" with him in casual clothes. Don't remember seeing them before that so not sure if they were just his security or were part of the intelligence gathering team. Have to agree with Stevie B's assessment of his contribution. Not inspiring at all.

Whaaaat?

It seemed to me you had your own minders last night at the entrance when I approached you one of your Mi5 Minders said: "ohh, thought you were gonna punch him then"
Maybe I shouldn't approach public eye individuals in the future :(
