Watford post match thread

We had more possession, more corners, more shots off target, more shots on target and more goals. We didn't play well but if either team deserved to win it was us.

Just a marked difference from the team that OK to the field at Leicester and Sunderland, I thought we played much better against Leicester than yesterday, and when we were 1-0 down yesterday I said we didn't deserve anything out of the game, and I honestly felt that, the ref was a little shit (but then you expect all the 50/50s to go their way, so I don even really blame him. We won and that is what counts, and to come back and have that belief is wonderful, but if it wasn't for the last 10mins when they seemed too scared when we put bony on (and maybe navas was causing them a few worries too) as said they seemed scared, if they'd had an answer to our strange formation in that 10mins they would have won. And the reason I am not excusing saying "if they'd had an answer for those 10mins", is because the answer was so glaringly obvious, pack the midfield. So in hindsight and after the 94mins we probably deserved something from the game (because Watford were slightly naive for 10mins), and considering our goals were very good goals and I don't think Watford have the quality to score those kind of goals, that is what separated the teams. Otherwise we gave the ball away too much, we didn't tackle, we allowed them time on the ball to pick out their passes, we didn't close them down, we were poor.

Hi all. Clearly a Watford fan here. Well done yesterday. Thought that we nearly had you but class told in the end against a side that were out on their feet. It might seem a bit old fashioned but just wanted to congratulate you on the way you play the game. Having suffered the game against much vaunted Spurs when they spent the whole game trying to get players booked, feigning injury, it was good to see a quality team play properly. It seems as though a lot of you feel you played badly but to be honest every team we have played this season has claimed that they had an off day against us. We must be doing something right. Best of luck for the rest of the season.

Great post fella. We didn't play well but yesterday was a much tougher game than the one away at Leicester and you have got to be looking at a top 10 finish. Really like your manager (keeping hold of him will be the problem) and Ighalo looks a top player. Good luck for the rest of the season.

It's a tough one but Pelligrini gets paid well to make the right decisions and it's us as fans to moan if he drops Silva KDB or sterling. At the moment the team doesn't look as balanced with Navas not in the side.

We haven't looked the same side since KDB was signed to be honest and that's not taking anything from his individual performances which on the whole have been excellent. The forwards just don't seem to gel well currently. There was a break on yesterday when Sterling got the ball and quickly moved it out to De Bruyne. Aguero made the run but for some reason, DB stopped, cut inside and shot which ended up in their goal kick. De Bruyne put some dangerous balls in the box and was a threat but Sterling was rubbish yesterday. I'd try the Navas, DB, Silva, Aguero combination against Everton with Sterling on the bench.

I think whenever we've tried to play KDB on the right side with another playmaker next to him (whether it be Toure or Silva) we haven't performed particularly well. Personally I think it's either or from Silva or KDB with Navas and Sterling because otherwise, especially when we end up playing nominal 442 with Silva and KDB as wide playmakers, the lack of cover for the full backs is scary, the lack of pace is a worry, the lack of shape and commitment to that shape is a worry. Silva and KDB are both players who to some extent need to have some defensive freedom as they're so dangerous on the break. Right now KDB is the most dangerous of the two so Silva should get dropped.

Personally think KDB looks better when he goes over to the left for some reason. Agree though that for all his faults when Navas comes on the team looks so much more balanced.

Much maligned - but yet again Yaya a big goal to get us out of the shit. He made taking that chance on the volley look so easy, but a difficult technique. By the way where is the Yaya thread?

Thought sterling did alright, having sterling on one side Navas on the other wing is the way I'd play every game give KDB a rest just think KDB and silva in the side unbalance us.

Against Everton

That win was a turning point for us ! Ok we were all worried when they scored but we stood up and turned it round . I could be wrong but that result seriously cheered me up. Onwards and upwards .

Agree with this, think yesterday could be the boost we needed. Glad Aguero got the winner as well, things are shaping up nicely. Onwards and upwards going forward hopefully.

yes but Sky and Match of the day and probably most of the newspapers disagree , so it must be the truth , or perhaps just maybe they are appeasing their rag/dipper audience/readership/customers.

Fully agree too. Have seen a big improvement these last few games (despite making it difficult for ourselves). Looks like confidence (and fitness) is returning.
