wayne bridge - mancini is my only handicap

Those defending him are making me scratch his head - yes it's okay for him to sit on his wage and take it if he has no moral qualms and professional pride. But his comments tell us he wants to play football so he is basically saying "I want my obscene wage but I'm not leaving [since I won't take a pay cut and no one will match my wages] and I want to play football and be in the first team despite not being good enough, and if I'm not with the first team it's unfair on me. City are wrong if they can't conform to my needs."

He has every right to sit back and collect his £90k a week.

We have every right to select him or not select him as we see fit. And tell him to train with whoever we want.

Our position is clear, he needs to decide whats more important to him. The money or playing.

If it was me, having already earned a fortune from the game, I'd want to play as much as possible.

When players go on oan they generally remain on the same wage it is just that the club borrowing pay a proportion of the wages. It is not Bridges wishing to remain on his wage which I object to that is a natural and understandable point of view. He wants to maximise his earning power. It is his apparent refusal to go on loan which should benefit him, us and the borrowing club which I find unprofessional and difficult to understand.

It's becoming easier to see why that French hooker preferred the alpha male Terry to the wimpish Bridge.

Terry may be a prize **** but at least he has professional pride

Had to laugh at Mancini's comment today "Its not true that I dont speak to him, I spoke to him before the start of last season..."

Hahaha seen that I spoke to him about two years ago told him he's not in out plans and to find a suitable club!! Well what else would Mancini have to say to him in the next two years he put it to him straight like you would want if your a player! He was 29 then he's wasted two years of his playing life very sad

I think that is the first classless thing Bobby has said.
I don't rate Bridge at all, and think he is a bit of a twat for sitting back and collecting when he had numerous offers, however, a classy manager would probably just say 'Wayne isn't in my plans and is for sale.' He doesn't need to lower himself by having digs.

No, nothing classless about what Mancini said. Just watched and listened to the interview and it was stated that he had a conversation with Bridge before the start of LAST season telling Bridge that he wasn't going to be part of future plans. Don't for one minute believe that they have never spoken a word since. Just saying that Bridge knew 16 months ago that he had no future, but he's obviously happy not playing.
