We have one of the most negative fan bases in football

There is a huge difference between venting and moaning about a poor performance and looking for excuses to slag the team.

Also, this forum should be there for people to moan about poor performances, I haven't stated otherwise.

What I take issue with is how people find faults at the tiniest things to complain about and use hypothetical scenarios to try and prove a point. Then they seem to give very little credit to good performances.

I'll be watching your posts with interest this season then. No moaning now about the tiniest things...

Of course people find fault in this. It's in our nature. Never really happy. Everything is nearly perfect apart from that tiny thing. It's worse with football fans. We all strive for the perfect game/ formation/ goal/ pass.

The 1-6 every week with Silva's pass for Dzeko on a loop.

Commenting about comments on a forum must be up there as one of the biggest waste of time and bandwidth ,ever. But, until someone invents an alternative we are stuck with it ( like the weather).
Most match-thread negative posts can be dismissed without getting to the second line, the agenda is glaringly obvious. Not all by any means, but enough to make the thread a sort of toxic laughing stock. If there was a 24 hour armistice to allow tempers to cool it would probably be less venomous, never happen of course even if it was desirable. Bluemoon matchday forum is nearly always blue-on-blue, the guardian btl is more like City vs the rest of the world, jees there is some hate out there, mostly rags dippers and arse, with a supporting cast of miscellaneous anti-arab, anti-pep toe rags thrown in. Forums eh?

By the way what does this thread achieve? It's calling out negativity but it's only gone on to create further negativity. If we were winning games comfortably I'm sure this would be the bubbliest forum out there.

The amount of negativity from our fans about City at the moment is absolutely staggering, and during a time where we're literally living the greatest era in the club's history.

I can think of only Arsenal at the moment where the fans talk about their own club with such distain. I rarely ever see or hear United fans talk about their club with the venom and malice which has developed amongst a large section of our support. I've never heard a United fan say a bad word about Mourinho since he joined.

You think all those negative media articles and news stories have no impact but they do. They create a mood of negativity, something which festers in the back of the mind. It means you'll be set alight more easily at the slightest mishap or mistake.

The club isn't perfect and it never will be. They make mistakes and they will make mistakes in the future as well. I find a lot of the problems I have about City are the results of my problems with elements of modern football. We're not alone with a lot of our concerns about prices, corporates, fan engagement etc.

Unfortunately it seems that some of us have become professional Manchester City critics rather than Manchester City supporters.

People can't wait to have a moan about the slightest thing, and it's sad. I even saw people on this forum yesterday saying we've had a shit transfer window yesterday after we've spent £200 million+ on several top class players. Some plonker on Twitter saying we've ruined Denayer's career because we made him sign a contract and then loaned him out. The only reason he's not better than Van Dyke right now apparently.

Comments like this after the CL draw "Forgive me for not jumping with glee at not being in a group of death, but I'm still not convinced Pep knows his best XI from game to game" - After we've played 2 matches with 1 change where the number 1 left back is out injured. How on earth that could be your instant reaction or thought to a CL draw is well beyond my way of thinking.

The way some of us speak about the manager, players and people behind the scenes is frightening. It's almost hatred and resentful at times. Every mistake by manager, player or club isn't an excuse to go straight for the throat

The bottom line is that if you're not happy now then you will never ever be happy.
Just wat till you turn 15 kid ppffftt.

Up until 2008 every single one of us had every good reason to support the rags. Winning everything in sight, no chance of poor refereeing decisions against us, arse-creeping media with a polite aversion of eyes when it came to the eye-watering money spent to achieve success in a virtual monopoly.

But we didn't. And why ? Because we're all contrary bastards. And I'm afraid that spills over into here. Most of us rein it in but there are those, presumably without friends, who are particularly loud and aggressive and tend to drown out the more moderate posters. Collectively, City fans are no more negative than any other fan base.

I have no real idea if we are more or less negative than other supporters. I don't go on other teams' forums and don't follow supporters of other clubs ("famous" people aside) on Twitter. I only listen to phone-ins on the way home from games.

However, see plenty enough posters of City who seem to do nothing other than moan and it does feel like our fan base is overly negative given the good fortune that we have to be backed by such wealth.

I keep trying to stay away from social media but as a Manc living in exile, I want people to "talk" City with.

you cant beat a good moan i moan about everything

This above was probably one of the most negative posts I've ever seen on this forum. You're hardly a regular.
Exactly this, you prove my point nicely.

You seem to think how big of a "fan" you are is reflected in how many posts you have done or how long you have been a member of the forum. The vast majority of blues have never heard of this forum, call me old fashioned but I will measure my support by having gone to over a thousand games over 30 odd years.

"But this squad is the best in the PL by a mile" was the main aspect of the most negative post you you say you have ever read (of mine). I stand by the points made about the manager though, seen again on Saturday.
