Completely hypothetical and there's no reason why this would ever happen, but... If City were to look to build a completely new stadium, where would people want it to be built? On the existing site, closer to our original home at Hyde Road, Moss Side, nearer the city centre or somewhere else perhaps. What does everyone think?
Would have posted this as a new topic but don't have enough posts to my name.
Why post it at all?Flixton blue said:Going off on a bit of a tangent here.

Can't help feeling that our place is already starting to be left behind in terms of design, innovation, and general state-of-the-art 21 century requirements?
Can anyone tell me when the initial stadium plans were drawn-up, as have feeling the architects were pushing the boundaries of 20th century design and build when we first decided to make the move from Maine Road.
I'm convinced COMS/Eastlands, whatever we wish to call it, is not, and will not age well, over the next couple of years.
There is little emotional attachment to the stadium for me, and one of the many reasons why I think our owners could and should look at a new stadium/major refurb before much longer.
Liverpool (eventually) Spuds and other clubs across Europe will all be in a position to take advantage of current methods, which will make our home look dated and shabby.
Some of the German arenas, Bayern's Allianz, Schalke and Hamburg, have all been able to retain a mix of the traditional with cutting edge design.
Do you see a time when our owners will not want to think our home as inferior (I'm reliably informed they were not particularly impressed with it, prior to recent internal cosmetic improvements)
They want the very best for us in terms team quality, yet we already have a stadium that will not be able to keep apace of the progress and ambition.
£400m for a new stadium, Emirates like £60k?

We've got ourselves a bit of money, and some people are demanding;
Free tickets for all those above the age of 2 months
David Villa in a skirt playing Bluemoon on a banjo - only at half-time though (obviously)
8 new stadiums
Barcelona-esque football (including the 30 degree heat)
A win each week by a margin of at least 4 goals
Each player must put in at least 100 (successful) tackles per game, and cover 5.7 miles "tracking back"
The Sun
The Moon
An oil-reserve
What next? A complimentary Ferrari F50 for each first year seasoncard holder?
I'm sorry but it's really beginning to tickle me, and at the same time remind me of the impatient, spoilt, and very fickle Neanderthals who haunt that vile little cesspit in the centre of Stretford.
We don't need a new stadium, we've only occupied the current one for a handful of years!
CoMS isn't perfect, but it's just beginning to feel like home - and now you're proposing that we move to another imaginary, super-dooper shiny stadium?
It's all getting a little bit silly now, if it isn't Petrov or Robinho being too "soft" and not "tracking back enough" then it's the indignant masses foaming at the mouth due to the latest unsavoury draw against a repulsively "inferior" club - sound familiar?
It's all getting a little unreasonable...
I think a reality check is in order.
