We need an A-list signing ?

I'm against buying an A-list player for the sake of it. I bet a lot of people would have ranked Negredo in the A-list if he would have performed for Barcelona or Real like he did for Sevilla. It all starts with results, winning prizes and getting into the semi's or the final of the CL.
We are way behind the likes of Barca, Real, Bayern, and probably one or two teams in England. We need to be an attractive club for players not just based on the money we can pay them. We need to win things and promote to be a perfect environment for players and young talents.
Pellegrini so far has made players better. Some far better. If the man can upgrade the same players from last season, we are already the team to beat in the PL. And we already got the players where we needed it most.

If we're not going for a proven one, I hope we spend on someone who could conceivably become one. Like Bruma.

We were all sitting in this transfer forum 3 years ago wondering if a teenage Neymar was worth it. We're a club that must act then, not wait until he's one of the world's best players and then try to sign him. Isco was the latest one where our inaction led to the player getting away.

Agree. There isn't any obvious big name that seems available this transfer window now. I would love to see us in the very near future develop one of our own into a player of the same calibre as Messi.

Now hear me up.

We haven't really bought an A-list player for a while now, and i think Aguero was the last one.
If we want to see our self as a top 5 club in the world we will need to get an A-list signing if not every summer transfer window at least one each second season.

This is not for sporting reason but branding as well.

We are building up a big franchise in Asia lately with some good sponsorship, now we need a new spearhead for those advertisement besides Aguero in my opinion.

The last few season he heard that we now are focusing on quality instead of quantity, which to be honest haven't really been fur filled.

I am loving the signings of Fernandinho and Navas so far, they bring exactly what we have needed for a few seasons now. But to be honest it is a bit worrying we lost out on Isco, and Cavani is overpriced yes, but most A-list signings are.

A-list Players that are left which in theory we possible could buy are.

Lewandowski
Bale
Suarez (Mehhhhh)
Cavani

Do we need 1 game changing player, instead of 3 solid team players ?

I am nearly choking here, but I think this is the main reason why MANUre have stolen a good number of titles. A listers are OK if they deliver. Last season ours didn't, whereas journeymen strikers might have done!

Last season they bought Van Persie and won the title.
We bought squad players and were shit most of the season.
They Increased their revenue income and made Van persie thier new golden boy.

Branding is everything, and an A-list signing needs to work on 2 sides.
Sporting and marketing.

We are getting close to having the sporting pull that other big clubs have.
But in the marketing sector we are way behind, and one of the reasons for that, is we haven't really bought an A-list player for a long time.

We have wasted soo much money on average players in the past, because our pull wasn't that good. Yet Monaco and Paris has proved that is bullshit, Paris bought Ibra and T.Silva on thier first season after the takeover, Monaco bought Falcao and Mourtinho.

Its annoying when City fans say its ok to sign Negredo, Cardozo, Soldado or Jovetic... There all top 6 players but not one is a Champions League footballer... Why are we not signing Gonzalo Higuain? Arsenal are bobbins lets get it straight... Thiago Alcantara we have to bid for, if hes allowed to leave Barca we must fight to sign him.. Hes better than Isco with alot more experience of Champions League football. Luke Shaw, Di Maria, Marquinhos are players id also like to see come our way. We need to look to win every trophy and signing decent players doesnt get you them trophies!

Can anyone tell me these youngsters that are coming through?

With the exception of Suarez who does look good i cant see anyone else, Lopes is only 17 so that wont be for a while yet... But who else is there??

It isn't bullshit at all.

Who did we sign when we got taken over? Robinho.

Signings since then? Yaya Toure, Silva, Nasri, Aguero, Tevez and Dzeko etc. All big names in European and worldwide football.

Monaco have gone mad like we have and bought Moutinho, Falcao and Rodriguez. Falaco out of them is the only one known worldwide. Lets see who they buy next season and the year after.

PSG, they have bought Lavezzi, Ibra and T.Silva. All huge names. Anyone since? no.

You can't keep buying "a-list signings".

Besides, sport and marketing works by being successful. Having a team of players who all fit and play well together will get results, having a team struggle because they can't all play together or certain players say for example Cavani can't adapt won't be successful and so no one will give a shit anyway.

Signing Cavani or Suarez whilst we still have Dzeko and Aguero would be suicide I think, clearly the management at City believe the same thing. Having superstars in every position guarantees nothing and can do more harm than good.

Look at Real, a team built up of stars, won barely anything since Barca started dominating and now the whole team is ran by the dressing room. Even Mourinho got forced out of the club by them!

Don't give a shit about "A List" signings that help marketing etc. Lets build a fucking team that plays with passion and watch those players become superstars in a City shirt instead of trying to buy them in.

Agree 100% & I'll add I don't give a damn what the media or other fans of other clubs think of our signing either! Fuck em.

Disagree with some of this - Yaya was well known but not A list or marketable shall we say as he was a fairly dour footballer at Barca (albeit a great one) in that he won the ball and passed it to someone else, none of the gut busting runs and imprtant goals we see.

Silva and Nasri were well known I would say but not A list and the same for Dzeko. You could say Maicon is a an "A list" player more than some in your list.

Tevez and Aguerro are the ones we have bought in(and Robinho). We have set Hart up on the way to becoming one and made VK one.
