Weekend Prem Games Discussion thread

It should have been a penalty.

A direct free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following six offenses in a manner considered by the referee to be careless, reckless or using excessive force:

kicks or attempts to kick an opponent
trips or attempts to trip an opponent
jumps at an opponent
charges an opponent
strikes or attempts to strike an opponent
pushes an opponent

A direct free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if a player commits any of the following four offences:

tackles an opponent to gain possession of the ball, making contact with the opponent before touching the ball
holds an opponent
spits at an opponent
handles the ball deliberately (except for the goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
Penalty Kick

A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences is committed by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided it is in play.

Didn't get a straight red for diving, got the red for 'hitting' Barton.
I agree. Stavros suggested it was for simulation.

No im suggesting barton got a yellow for simulation, and gervinho got a red for hitting /slapping/poking barton

That seems to me to be a contradiction in terms Barton cannot simulate violet conduct or can he ?

-- Sat Aug 13, 2011 7:07 pm --

this is not violent conduct mate. he didnt strike or spit at the opponent. it comes down to interpretation, but most refs wouldnt send off a player for this. and im not talking shite as you so nicely put it
So; let me get this straight. You are saying that Barton's actions did not constitute violent conduct then (or possible incitement), yes? Hmm. By the way, apologies if the ''shite'' comment upset you (as it seems that it might have). Maybe I could have phrased it slightly differently. ''Talk ''rubbish'', maybe?

haha. didnt upset me.
im saying that barton dragging gervinho up doesn't constitute violent conduct. and most refs would agree.

Most refs may not but most police officers would class it as an assault ................unfotunatley

Good Ol' Joey!!

Thanks for sorting them f*ckwits out http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14429552.stm

Especially after Wenger has been trying to lead hinge and bracket a merry dance over the Nasri transfer, by trying to throw Tevez in to the deal. Good job Joey that Gevinillo looks a right tw*t trying to hide his baldness. Should have ripped his Floella Benjamin wig off the silly tw*t.

I think most people would like to do what Joey did to obvious diving, its just that it was him doing it that makes it worse, add to that he went down like a sack of shite when Gervinho stroked his face.

Gervinho scored against some German club in a friendly, Arse fans were all praising the Gervinator, German, etc

Now it's 'fuck off back to France and get some English players'

Hilarious

My old man just told me Dyer is fucked again already. Why do people get him ? he is the biggest liability along with Woodgate and Hargreaves, built out of bloody tracing paper he is.

Will be out for a couple of weeks
