Are you saying that was two yellows? I don't think you can get a straight red for diving.

Didn't get a straight red for diving, got the red for 'hitting' Barton.
I agree. Stavros suggested it was for simulation.

No im suggesting barton got a yellow for simulation, and gervinho got a red for hitting /slapping/poking barton

Hence the word, 'hypothetical'
That's not really the point of a hypothetical. Hypothetically, we can win the Premier League this year. No hypothetical scenario allows Leeds for example to win the Premier League this year.
I didn't say anything about Leeds or us winning the League, i asked hypothetically if Kompany, or even ANY of our players did that, to a United player, what would people say, and your ignorance shone through
That was me explaining what a hypothetical actually is to someone who is showing his ignorance of the fact. One of our other players maybe would do that. They should get a red if they do.

Thanks for clarifying. I don't think Barton got a yellow for simulation, but I'll have to wait and see what the report says.

FOR WHAT?????? HE DID FUCK ALL WRONG ARSENAL GETTING TASTE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE. BARTON GOT HIM SENT OFF GERVINHO WAS STUPID ENOUGH TO RAISE HIS HANDS. IF BARTON DID THAT, THAT PRICK GERVINHO WOULD HAVE GONE DOWN.

plus he got stamped on before and kept his cool.

well done barton
Don't talk shite. Barton grabbed the gooner by the collar of his shirt. Violent conduct, therefore a red card. Should have been a yellow card for Gervinho and a red for the scouse twat.

this is not violent conduct mate. he didnt strike or spit at the opponent. it comes down to interpretation, but most refs wouldnt send off a player for this. and im not talking shite as you so nicely put it
So; let me get this straight. You are saying that Barton's actions did not constitute violent conduct then (or possible incitement), yes? Hmm. By the way, apologies if the ''shite'' comment upset you (as it seems that it might have). Maybe I could have phrased it slightly differently. ''Talk ''rubbish'', maybe?

well he definately didnt deserve a red in my opinion, but some refs would have sent him off. it basically comes down to the ref in these situations.
gervinho had to go, the ref had no choice

In the end, it doesn't matter. Here's why.

Let's assume for the moment that Barton got the yellow card for starting an altercation. The ball was still in play when he dragged Gervinho up. Gervinho was in the box. That's a penalty.
