There's so many defensive options for us and so many games that all of the players will get decent game time. Ake and Gvardiol will play plenty of games alongside each other, as well as in rotation.

I've not seen loads of Gvardiol, but one thing that really stands out is his ability to cut through the midfield with incisive passing, both down the left hand side and more centrally. Both Grealish and Haaland are going to be able to take advantage of this and will help in the transitions. Its something that Ake and Akanji don't have in their locker, which isn't a criticism, they're just different type of players.

If we can replace Mahrez with someone of similar quality and not lose Bernardo I think we'll be in a great position to hopefully defend at least one of the PL or Champs League.

his mother’s advice: “to enjoy, to be himself. like i always say to him -clear mind and fast legs-“
father: “to continue doing what he’s been doing so far”
mother: “and to make all of us, and most importantly, himself, proud”

even his family is super nice. his father still sells fish although he doesn’t have to really anymore, the man is just used to hard work.
there’s a photo of gvardiol hugging his mother after the game vs belgium in qatar that will probably be tattooed in our nation’s collective memory. an artist made a drawing of it and joško and his family asked if she’d be interested in selling the drawing. she refused to accept money so joško sent the jersey he wore in that game to her.
everyone watches big tournaments here, even people who usually ignore football, and every single person i talked to said joško was their favorite player as well as our best player.
and just to remove the croatian bias from all this, our best ever striker is an insufferable asshole and nobody likes him. amazing player, sure, but not an amazing human being.

While I agree about Gvardiol. Grealish needs to add more goals and assists especially because of the lose of goals from Gundogan and Mahrez
