Well done Bobby

or, and all top level managers do it, the attention is once again taken away from the players before the massive game sunday - his refusal to comment about Atkinson was all part of the plan, the media fish were all in the net before they could say stai imbrogliando!

I'd love to believe that Zin.

But I think we both know he just lost his rag for a bit.

I haven't seen a single paper or any media today.

But as soon as I saw him doing it last night I thought "Oh you dick, you'll be all over the papers tomorrow". It was always going to be that way, which is why he shouldn't have done it.

We agree on your second point. But how do you think he'll be if we're 1-0 up in a title decider against United with our backs to the wall? I know what I think....;-)
I don't do the newspapers so not sure what's in them, but talkSPORT have it running. Bit of a mixed bag so far from Blues phoning in, some saying what we are saying and some saying what others have said. They have also praised us for the 'gritty' performance too though so as far as this one station is concerned, it's as expected really - debating the card waving thingymibob.

Talksport will always run the tabloid angle. And a gritty, slightly sloppy 1-0 win over Wigan doesn't engender many phone calls or listeners.

Just to make myself clear, I didn't give a damn the first time Mancini did this. I thought all the negativity around it was just hot air. It's the fact that he's done it a second time which bugs me. He should have engaged his brain.
I didn't like it the first time to be honest DD, and as soon as it happened like you I thought about the negative attention it will get straight away, which of course it did. Only BM knows why he's doing though I suppose.
I wonder what odds Paddy Power will give for him doing it on Sunday? You know they will!

The way some of the media are reacting this morning, you'd think he'd committed war crimes rather than brandishing an imaginary card. It's not really a big deal, but it'd make life easier all round if he refrained from doing it.

However, I think it's a bit fanciful to suggest that he's deliberately doing it to deflect attention from the team. He obviously feels aggreived by some of the decisions going against us, and rightly so, but he looks like he's starting to feel the pressure. I'm sure he can handle it though.

'Warts and all' is a phrase that springs to my mind with regards to Bobby.
His passion and honesty is both his biggest strength and can be perceived to be our achilles heal.

Hope I don't become totally paranoid but if we take out the deliberate hand ball
incident would the overall coverage of the press (for what that matters) been postive?

No , I didnt think so either.

That's in insightful post, actually, and one I agree with. No manager is perfect and he clearly has his flaws.

With regards to your final point I believe the press angle would have been "Gritty City Grind out result while not playing well". Which is how the game was.

Not until he's hidden himself in a linen basket or assaulted another teams coach will he have a chance of being accepted by the very minute minority on here. Even after we win the league some will still ooze puss like a festering ulcers.

I strongly suspect he's frustrated at not being able to buy De Rossi and others, too. Hence the pressure and his wierd, rattled, angry demeanour.

I'd like to believe he knows what he doing with it, Pidge, but in my heart of hearts I don't.

He gets flustered under pressure, we've seen it before. It worries me. He's looked rattled this last few weeks as our form has dipped. This is just an extension of this. To be fair to him he's under immense pressure to deliver the title.

You were saying this at this exact time last season. 'Keegan-esque' is what I remember yet we pulled through and achieved our goals. There's a real feeling of injustice around the club at the moment and that's carried down to the team and manager. I'm sure once we're back playing to our best and he has the players back who he trusts we'll see the cool Bobby again.

Good post. That's exactly what I hope. And I certainly feel the injustice too, I'd like to think we will use it for a dunkirk spirit.

It's whinging, yes. But where's the cheating? The only cheat i saw was Figueroa.

Maybe not the best phrase. But if the theory presented that he's doing it on purpose to get into referee's heads is true, then that's cheating. Or at least attempting to influence.

You know what I mean. I don't want us to be like that, I want City to win with dignity.

No worse than other managers getting in the 4th officials ear but somehow that seems acceptable. If that's how he feels he can get these inconsistent decisions to be highlighted, i hope he keeps doing it.
