So what? For teams from Manchester, Liverpool, Sunderland, Newcastle it's less distance to Glasgow, than it is to Cardiff/Swansea. Fuck teams in the south coast.

They are more than welcome to if they start in th conference/non league and work their way up. On what planet would it be righ for them To just walk right in ?

Of course they should start at the bottom, I never said they should join the premier league.
Then there's nothing stopping them.

Nobody in England wants Rangers and Celtic but Swansea, Cardiff and Wrexham are already in. This thing with the Glasgow clubs is like knocking on the door of a party you are not invited to and trying to convince the host why you should be allowed in. English football needs to slam the door in their faces once and for all.

This exactly. It's only relatively recently since the Glasgow clubs have started to show this kind of interest, as it is now clear that the Scottish league is on its arse and a desire to share in the spoils is lusted after. Why also, just Rangers and Celtic?
I'm sure we would all love a trip up to Raith Rovers and Motherwell.

Motherwell is one of Lanarkshire's most up and coming towns I'll have you know!

Summed up perfectly Major GayKev.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the Welsh sides if Wales ever devolve. Would they still be allowed to play in the English leagues?

Would be dancing in the streets of Raith if they did

Why not get rid of scottish and welsh football altogether and make it as uk football league like it should be

Celtics got the second or third biggest ground behind united (wembley and national stadiums dont count) rangers have a big ground as well

Yes they should start from beginning but celtics easly good enough for a top 10 premier league finish

You could have

English teams 4 champs league spots 3 europa league (fa cup and league cup)

Scotland 1 Champs league have a scottish cup to decide it

Wales 1 champs league spot have a welsh cup

For several reasons:

1 - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are four countries in a political union. They are not one country. Therefore they should have their own leagues.
2 - If you merge the leagues then FIFA will merge the national teams by default, and that's a great way to cause endless tension between the four countries. Remember the whole "Scottish FA declaring it will ban any player who plays for Team GB" thing? Well imagine if you have that whole circus for every round of international fixtures for evermore.
3 - Even if FIFA somehow didn't order the FAs and national teams to merge, there's absolutely no way that UEFA would allow the joint British league system to have six Champs League places. Either they would fold the ability for each FA to send individual members in and make it per league, or Wales and Scotland would get to submit clubs at the expense of England. Imagine England only getting to send two CL teams every season, and imagine what that would do to the transfer market when you're trying to persuade a big-name player that you can guarantee them CL football.
4 - At the moment, the existence of our separate FAs is the only thing which allows us to keep an interest in how the game that we invented is run. As said above, the committee which votes on rule changes is made up of 8 members. 4 represent FIFA, 4 represent the 4 British FAs. Do you like what Blatter and Platini are doing with how football is governed right now? Well imagine if they get to set the rules on the pitch too. Can anyone seriously be happy with that possibility?

The British FAs and league systems need to be kept apart, permanently. I'm happy with the teams such as Swansea and Cardiff to play in the "wrong" league if they've got history there, but seriously, Celtic and Rangers can go shaft themselves, they shouldn't be allowed in the English league system even if they had to start from the 24th level (which does actually exist), let alone the Conference on the 5th level of the pyramid.
