West Ham (A) - EFL Cup R4 - Post-Match Thread

Disappointing to lose ‘our’ cup but we weren’t quite at it tonight. Neither were they. One of those games we throw in periodically where we just don’t look like scoring.

Hopefully the 4 games we will ‘save’ our legs from will benefit us in the other 3 comps.

The flip side of that is that a few players will get considerably less game time over the coming months.

Dust ourselves off and bounce back on Saturday.
 
5 in a row would of been great, no denial in that, but we’re out of the Micky mouse cup, so concentrate and tighten ship for the league and Europe. FA cup will be a bonus, but see how it goes.
 
Right now there's a gulf in class between Bernardo, Rodri, Foden, Grealish and Jesus and those who replace them.

When all players who are currently in good form are available, we are probably better than last season. But some squad players are not on form and our level drops seriously when they play.

Shit happens, though. Bayern lost 5:0 with most of their stars today.

Ake was good, Palmer as well. Zinch was decent.

This season, we have to concentrate on the PL and the CL. 4 more league cup games might have been at the expense of good results in the PL.
 
Sigh. Things could be worse — we could be rag fans. There's thousands and thousands of them (I'm told…)
By the way, was wondering the other day. When did we last get beaten — at our own gaff — 5-0? Or 6-1?
It must go back years and years and years.
