That goal ruled offside had a thicker blue line than red line, because it was in top of the red line! That is ridiculously close, when you take into account the issue with when the ball is hit.

offside should be measured by players feet, that is your absolute position on the field, regardless of leaning forward or backwards, and with today's technology it's very easy to tell who's feet are where when they put the straight lines across.

Good that Pep never says the result overrides everything. We were poor by our standards first half, but went through the gears second half. Scary thing for everyone else is that with Kevin we're massively better. In essence, it's like having a £200m signing.

I think the likes of MU, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs and maybe Everton, will all take points off each other and Liverpool with their under par defence pre-season and against Norwich. And then you have Wolves - a very good team and another year of experience. Winning the big games will be huge for us this year.

As crazy as it is trying to measure body parts they have to because the rules state that it is measured by body parts that are allowed to score a goal. Therefore shoulders can be utilised for this purpose and elbows can’t.

Every opposition fan has bought into this tactical fouling nonsense. The truth is, when you press that quickly it’s almost always going to end with you either retrieving possession or a foul, they’re not purposely bringing them down with no attempt to win back the ball as claimed.

We made 13 fouls this weekend, that’s quite a lot in truth but spurs made the same amount, as did Chelsea and United made 15. Yet none of them get any flack.

Grew into the game. Were a bit disjointed in the first half and some poor passing and decision making. Blew them away as the game went on. Would definitely bring Bernardo in against Spurs. We are a much better side with him than without. Midfield battle will be key against Tottenham. They have a lot of pace and power and we will need De Bruyne and Rodri to use their guile to play through. Should be a good game.

I expect the authorities or even FIFA to issue a directive that all players must shave under their armpits within 30 minutes of kick off to make sure VAR can get offside calls right. Like many on here I am very much in favour of VAR but think that the lengths they had to go to on Saturday were beyond ridiculous. I know the scousers will rage on about hypocrisy because we saw a "goal" not given because 2cms of the ball had not crossed the line. The difference is that goal line technology deals with only one moving element - the ball - and IS accurate to the millimetre whereas VAR deals with two elements - defenders and forwards - which are always moving. The decision to have the penalty retaken is much more solid: Rice was encroaching and it was he who cleared the ball yards before any non-encroaching City player had the chance to follow up and score from the rebound.

As for City, the first half had plentiful evidence of rust slow reactions but the second half showed that we were at least waking up to the new season's demands.

"Tactical Fouls" part and parcel of football. Liverpool in the 80s and United in the 2000's were masters of it and I am delighted we have learned how to do it so successfully.

All great teams do it and in all sports for that matter.
