Fucking hell I really dont know what planet some on here are from.
Following an away Europe trip and a Cup final on Sunday that went to extra time and penalties, last night we were faced with a a match against a much improved side who are no longer relegation contenders and who have been playing well. Hardly surprising given they have an ex City manager who knows a thing or two about doing well in the Premier League, add to the mix a team that contained a couple more returning heroes and of course we have a few injuries to key players.....
It was hardly likely to be a stroll in the park was it?
As it happens we battled through and got the one thing that anyone should really be bothered about....a win and 3 points. Thats exactly what Liverpool got as expected so job done.
Hardly surprisingly all things considered it wasnt a vintage performance. I thought the back four were excellent notably the perpetually understated Otamendi, and Ederson did what he had to do superbly.
Further forward midfield were functional but against a well disciplined and impressive defensive display the forwards struggled. Sane had one of his poor nights, as did Aguero apart from a much better penalty than the one he took Sunday. Mahrez does look to be struggling to get to grips with his move here, but his time may well come.
A statement maybe about Fodens progress in the mind of the manager to put him on when he did...a cock up at that stage would have been calamitous, and Pep trusted Phil to have the cool head needed to help see us home last night.
All in all surely a satisfactory if not outstanding nights work?
Those who have been throwing words ranging from awful to shite are in my view expecting the truly impossible. To those I ask one question...Do you not think you are turning just a touch raggy, as you are replicating the same sort of nonsense that for a couple of decades was almost exclusively heard coming from the general direction of Old Shitehouse.
Its a rare occasion for me to agree with anything purple nose says but this is one of those exceptions :-)
