...............Ederson

Walker....Otamendi...Mangala....Delph

.............Gundogan

....KDB...................Dave Silva

...Sterling....Gabby....Sane

Let's get at West Ham early doors, really batter their already rock bottom confidence and knock up a cricket score

I think this is the team except Sane will be rested alongside Dinho and Kompany because he's one yellow away from being suspended for the United game

Ederson
WalkerKompany Otamendi Mangala Danilo
Gundagon
DeBruyne Silva
Sterling Jesus

Then why do you assume it's bollocks if you don't know what it is or how it's used?

It's not that expected goals is bollocks, I'm sure it is a very handy tool for strategists at City, it's just that unlike possession, pass accuracy, goals scored, successful tackles which you can see with the naked eye, expected goals exists on a different plane, it doesn't speak to fans who experience the game. It's a bit like the calorie count in a meat pie, it's there and it's important but it's not the same as the taste.

I feel some of our players need a good rest.

We experience expected goals, we walk away from a match like the Everton game "How the fuck did we draw that game? We destroyed them" = much higher expected goals scored than actual goals scored. Or a game like Dortmund in 11/12 at home where they battered us and we stole a draw thanks to Hart = much higher expected goals conceded than actual goals conceded.
We subconsciously use this to reflect on the game, quantifying it just allows for cross comparison between games without having to rely on the memories of supporters who were there and had bias for most of them.

The phrase "smash and grab" is when someone beats the expected goals stat.

When you state....

Of course we experience it just like the calorie count in that meat pie might mean an extra notch on your belt, but we don't experience it in a self evident way, otherwise we wouldn't....

Good analogy. At the end of the day the stat is there for those that are interested. For those that aren't it's easy to ignore.

It isn't there solely for the benefit of those that ate the pie though :)
