Slightly off topic but I found this on the hammers forum ,really nice read and nice to know we're not universally hated by every other teams fanbase.

I wonder if their reaction would have been different had we slagged off West Ham.

That's good to know :D

They're one of those teams, like we used to be, that don't deserve the situation they're in. They have always played good football and always look like they should be top 10, but it just doesn't work out for them...

Good luck to West Ham and if they do go down I have no doubt they'll be straight back up, hopefully for a good few years...

Re: Match Thread City Vs West Ham

I'd love to see us revert to the Sunderland formation, especially if Parker doesn't make it, which would make the extra holding man even less necessary.

Hart, Zaba, Kompany, Lescott, Kolarov, De Jong, Yaya, Silva, Johnson, Balotelli, Dzeko

You haven't watched us this season have you?

There is as much chance of AJ starting on the left as me starting in midfield.

The only changes I think we will see is AJ starting on the bench, Balo left Dzeko CF and posibly Milner for Barry but I doubt the latter.

Then you didn't watch us last night then either!

Johnson spent half his time playing wide left...

Really?

You may want to examine the facts before such a statement.
Of his 38 passes in the 72 minutes he was on the pitch 4 were from the left half of the pitch in open play and 2 more were corners from the left.

That leaves the other 32 from the right. So 84% of his passes came from half his play did they?

Er, no. In fact he spent 17% of his 72 minutes on the left side of the pitch of which 8% was due to taking the 2 corners from that side.

So it would have been more accurate to say that Johnson spent a total of 12 minutes in the left half of the pitch of which 4.5 minutes were spent wide left in open play. The other hour was spent in his normal position on the right.

Not sure which game you watched.

Have I not seen thread stating Zabba and Nige are out?

If so, plus their injury problems I hope for:

----------------Hart

Boyata-----Kompany----Lescott-----Kolarov

---------Yaya---------Barry

------AJ-------Silva------Ballotelli

---------------Dzeko

and a resounding victory.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_ ... _table.php</a>

Manchester City will be without Carlos Tevez, who is now rumoured to be 50/50 for the FA Cup Final; Jerome Boateng and Micah Richards will be missing due to injury setbacks in recent weeks; Shay Given is out until the start of next season while he recovers from another shoulder injury.

West Ham will definitely be without Gary O'Neill, who is out for the reason; Matthew Upson is a doubt with a chest infection; Mark Noble is out for three more weeks with a groin injury; Scott Parker has an achilles tendon injury; Stanislas is out for another month, and Kurucz will be missing for another week due to knee injury.

If you try reading the entire thread, you will find that neither player will be missing.
OK fair enough.

Swap Boyata for Pab Zab and De Jong for Yaya who could do with a rest.

Re: Match Thread City Vs West Ham

I'm trying to not be over confident for this one. Being home settles my nerves a bit but despite the Hammers losing 3-0 at Chelsea they had thier chances, we all know we can't take any team lightly in the Prem but as it's a home game and the Champs League is ours to lose really I fully expect Mancini to pack the midfield and boss them around. I'd love to see us go all out but Hammers ain't no mugs so I reckon our team could either be unchanged or I would like to see it as;

---------------------Hart---------------------
Zaba------Kompany-------Lescott------Kolarov
-------------------De Jong-------------------
-------Milner--------Yaya--------Barry-------
--------------------------Silva---------------
-----------------Dzeko-----------------------

Give the freedom for Kolarov and Zaba to get forward and supply some crosses. AJ won't like it if he read this but as he's done a few times this season I would feel more comfortable him coming off the bench to save the day or have a positive impact if needed. Also, discipline is needed here so I've opten for Dzeko over Balo as I have confidence in Dzeko (particularly his heading) and Balo can be as good an impact player as anyone.
