West Ham United (A) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Having kept abreast of the EFC game this afternoon, as the Dias oggy went in i thought at least we weren't 2-0 up and we can go again. Fine performance as it turned out. Kevin was unlucky and could have had a couple, too! Bet West Ham fans are getting a bit fed up of us darn the East End. Have we lost at that ground yet?

Just Fuckin WOW!!

What a game! We should have won it 1-6, but several near misses & a spirited & very dangerous West Ham, kept me on the edge of my seat from minute 1 to minute 95!

The Hammers blasted out the traps & applied serious pressure to close us down, leading to a glut of early chances. It was all WHU for the first 3 minutes, but after a tough, hairy start, we got a grip of the game & began to find our rhythm.

West Ham were sinking further & further back into their half & just as the pressure was rising to boiling point, West Ham tried to play the ball out.

The superb Bernardo pinched the ball, slipped in an inch perfect slide-rule pass to the Viking Meat Shield to put Haaland through, who duly obliged to control & place the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal for a much deserved opener.

We kept the pressure on looking for a second, when the ball broke loose, only for West Ham to sweep through our midfield, slip the ball to the tricky Bowen on the right, who fired in a cross for an unfortunate & undeserved deflection off Dias to equalise.

We kept our composure & continued to press, albeit West Ham kept posing major danger on the break.

We broke up another Hammers bout of scant possession, to get the ball central to Grealish, who passed to Bernardo, who touched the ball to Lewis, who swiveled & placed the ball in Erling's path, who took one touch to steady himself, & lashed the fucking hell out of the ball, smashing it into the roof of the net! 1-2!

We kept the pressure on West Ham, who kept hitting us on the break, but as the half drew to a close, they'd finally started to click.

The Hammers started the second half like the first, but we kept our composure & kept a vibrant, resurgent WHU at bay. They were on top for the first 15 after the break, but the tide started to turn as Doku started taking on their defenders, which pushed them back.

Into the final ⅓ of the game, Pep brought off the growing in influence, Doku, & introduced Gundog, in an attempt to stiffen up our midfield control & the tempo better.

Grealish was showing some of his best form in a while, but he & Gvardiol were withdrawn before the final 15 minutes, & replaced by Aké & Nunes, as Pep attempted to further shore us up.

HOWEVER, we needed another goal, as West Ham were fighting hard, therefore making the match a brilliant spectacle for the Premier League. It was a game which we deserved to be further ahead in, but we needed another goal or two to put Sky Blue water between both teams, & so it came!

We broke up another West Ham period of short possession & the ball came to Nunes. He swiveled, forced his way past the covering midfielder & played a killer through ball through to the Nordic Meat Shield, who controlled the ball, brushed off the centre back, & hooked the ball over the shoulder of the on-rushing keeper, to score the sealer & his second hat-trick in 8 days!

This isn't the Haaland of last season. It's not the Haaland of the season before. It's not even the Haaland of Dortmund. This is a new, more dynamic, fully fit & clinically lethal Erling Haaland! His goal-scoring feats this season so far, must be sickening for our PL opponents!

KDB was absolutely ripping the Hammers apart at times, & we needed him at his very best to prevail today. His impeccable performance deserved a goal, but he graced the game all the same, as only he can.

Lewis, brilliant! Akanji, MASSIVE. Bernardo, the mechanised masterpiece who kept us ticking like the very best Swiss timepiece.

Those who didn't watch the game may well shrug & say they expected City to walk it, but we didn't. The Hammers made us sweat to the very last, & we had to be at our early season best to beat a resolute & dangerous West Ham.

Is there any doubt? Simply the fuckin best!

Another very good all-round team performance. Had a little worry before the game that Kudus' power and pace might be a tough ask for Rico to cope with and still show his quality but I shouldn't have doubted. Phenomenal prospect. Also pleased for Nunes to come on and get an assist. Will do his confidence a world of good and hopefully make him feel a bit more like he belongs. 3 clinical yet quite different goals from the Striking Viking to drool over too. What's not to like? Hoping that Bernardo is okay after he seemed to pull up late in the game. Maybe he should pull out of the Portugal squad just to be safe.
