West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

It's a stupid discussion anyway because 1v1s will never make up a high % of chances for our forwards. Being good at them is not that important.

Sterling still scored more goals than anyone else in the squad for as long as he was here because being able to find space in a crowded box and score from 6-15 yards out is the most important thing for a City forward.
Totally disagree. A few 1 v 1s scored could be the difference between winning the title with games to spare instead of sweating it out on the last few minutes of the last game. EVERY goal is important so the more you can score, the better.

Overall no. He was much improved in the second half than the first half but he has to let the shackles off and take more risks.I think he has to do better, I've said before I think this season he will shine but I'd much prefer to see him in a more central role, I reckon he would be able to effect a game a lot more playing centrally, I don't think he is a wide man.
He's more nasri than Silva out wide - hopefully he develops into the latter of he gets moved central. I think he was really good today to be honest

One of the toughest places? Statistically you may be right mate, but my perception has always been the opposite. The distance away the fans are from the pitch, and the low angle of the seating, to me reduces any intimidating feeling quite a lot.
Without a shadow of a doubt the fans are too far away to the ground I think the stadium is piss poor when it comes to that.

I mean as a place to go and get a result its incredibly tough especially when a big side turn up West Ham can make life really difficult as we found out last season along with Liverpool and Chelsea ect One thing is for sure, Nobody else is capable of doing when we have done to West Ham in their own back garden today. They barely had a kick.

Few lads tried to get going an Ake song going today in front of us to the tune of smooth criminal

Nathan are you okay, are you Ake, are you okay Ake,
You’ve been hit by you’ve been struck by a Dutch criminal, du du du etc

He’s still trying to decide whether to shoot, pass or fall over now if he’s through there.
The difference in confidence is remarkable. I never doubted for a second where that ball was going on that 1 on 1. With sterling I always feel like it goes wide

He gets alot of uncalled for stick and I don't agree with it at all. He is just an easy target for everyone due to his price tag. It takes time to settle in to Peps style of play as a lot of other players have found it difficult in their first season at the club. He will come good though he's too talented not to.
