West Ham United (A) | Sun 7th Aug | Post Match Thread

Great start to the league season and I could see improvements from last week. West Ham are a good, well organised team and this was a tricky first game. I don’t think too many teams will come away with 3 points from there.

I thought that we were sloppy at times but generally in control of the game. Great start for Erling and this guy could end up with a big goal tally this season. When he was put through for his second goal, he looked extremely confident and perhaps we have now got the updated model of Sergio. Got in some great positions and he looks an exciting purchase.

Kev looked a bit short of full match fitness, but we already know that it usually takes him 3-4 games to get going. His ball through for the 2nd goal was fantastic. His link up with Erling is going to produce some fantastic results.

Can‘t wait for the game next week and hope we can get right behind the team.

did antonio hurt himself when he kept throwing himself onto the floor anytime a player was within 15 feet of him ?
surely you can't be concerned about that soft bastard missing any games, fucking waste of space

The same Antonio that’s lead the line for the last couple seasons which we’ve been brilliant by himself, through injury at times

He bullies, chases and works tirelessly and scored some vital goals for us over the years. One of our best ever signings imo.

Didn’t stand a chance today isolated up top against you lot

He's a talented player but unfortunately he is one of those who does tend to spend a lot of time on the deck. It's frustrating when you see a big, strong player going over at the slightest touch and it's not good for the game. He should be better than that. He's not the only one of course.

He’s similar to the Burnley forwards, Wood and Barnes. A battering ram that collapses on impact when they deem they need a free kick to get their team up the pitch.

I never think of it that way. If we're 10 points clear after 10 games then it's different, but anything can happen yet, something significant probably will.

I'm a little nervous at both Sterling and Jesus going. What happens if Haaland gets injured? His record is a bit iffy. And he's not going to be able to play every single match. Same applies to Alvarez. I still think we need more cover upfront.
Is his record really that iffy or is it that through all the regular growing muscle issues like delap he’s just had shite management rushing him back?

Sure and he knows when to chest the ball and collapse on defender impact to win free kicks to get your team up the pitch.

It’s not a criticism as such. It’s a skill.

Unfortunately, it’s the start of the season and the refs are trying to let the game flow.
