Be ready for Fat Sam's classic game plan .I feel like banana skin all over again.Hope I am wrong.
City to win by at least three, Jovetic to start and score. This is a match that would suit Lampard if he were fit.

Want a reaction after that complete capitulation on Tuesday. Not expecting a rout by any means as West Ham have been quite impressive this year, however we should have enough for them.

Hart
Zabaleta
Kompany
Mangala
Clichy
Fernando
Fernandinho
J.Navas
Milner
Silva
Aguero

Bring Yaya/Dzeko on after HT, neither of them deserve to start after their last performance.

Harsh to single out yaya and dzeko. With the exception of maybe hart and Fernando who worked his bollocks off the entire team was shite 2nd half on tues and even silva, zabba etc lost the ability to pass the ball to a blue shirt.

My view for what it's worth Fernando and Fernandinho just don't look right together as a 2. That may change. Plus Aguero should start but my view was that dzeko played better than him on tues night.
Deffo need some fresh legs in the team tomorrow - Sagna, Clichy, Fernandinho and Jovetic should all start.

Lose this and the feeling might be that retaining the title will be too much of a challenge. I would therefore be tempted to rest Eli and bring in Martin. I know Mangala is our future and has shown signs of what he can do, but there is still a naivety about him and we cannot drop points whilst he beds himself in properly.

I don't believe he is fully integrated into our style and tempo, so would give him the domestic cup games to rack the minutes up and then reintroduce him into the first team.

Just my view

It's October. No way this is must win. Be disappointed if we don't win, but WHU away when they're in good form, after difficult mid week game with travel, might be awkward.

Chelsea are going to have a bad run at some point. Missing Remy and maybe Costa now

hart

sagna
kolarov
vinny
mangala

fernandinho
yaya
silva
milner

dzeko
aguero

The context of the weekend makes it a must win Marv. Psychologically it'll be an enormous blow for us to go any further behind Chelsea. Shades of Mancini's last season in charge where we basically gifted the league to the rags. It's imperative that by hook or by crook we take three points because if we do - then the pressure mounts on Chelsea when they go to $old Trafford.

Think that's overstating it a bit but a win as ever is important. I can see Aguero starting on the bench for this. Not sure what the best team would be given all the games travel, and games to come.

just hope we dont play two upfront!! it never works, so much better with one

I SWEAR TO GOD, if we start with two strikers and Yaya in midfield, I AM GOING TO PUNCH MYSELF IN THE FACE.

It just shouldn't be an option for away games any more. And I don't want to see Yaya in midfield if Silva starts 'behind' Aguero, either (as per Spurs last week) because he's just masquerading as a forward in a 442.

I'm going to punch myself in the face, and then start a petition or something. I mean, for fuck's sake Manuel...

That is true. Against newcastle when he was broigh in it felt disjointed, similarly v Spurs and the CSKA game.

I think a part of that is the Garcia was much better on the ball then given credit for, even is his passing range was limited. He was able to complement Fernandinho better quikly for this reason.

Fernandinho needs to start with Yaya with Fernando behind them to make these 3 a successful trio

Got a feeling this is like Hull away last season. Disappointment in the CL, teams above us with more points. Need a win to boost morale as well

our #10 is always like a forward, whether its Yaya or Silva. But Yaya he abandons all notion of defensive responsibility or coming into midfield, Silva still drops into pockets as well as come deep to receive the ball. But yeah, 442 with Yaya as one of the 2 CMs or 442 with Yaya as an AM is getting thin

Never ? I think a league and cup double last year says you're wrong.

Always tactics. Over-emphasised. More important is that the players are confident, pass and move. When City are at their best it's attack v defence and 4 in midfield and 2 up top are meaningless. It's when you don't have the ball that organisation is important, but I like Manuel's strategy. Keep the ball, then you don't have to defend.

A narrow City win I think, but wouldn't like to guess the team. Unlike most I suspect, I want to see a strong City team v Newcastle. A couple of players like Silva and Aguero might get a rest? I know some will say they are professional footballers, but they are also human and wont be at their best if we play them into the ground.

Go have a look at our away record playing two up top. Then feel free to punch yourself in the face right now.

Tactics are the most important part of football. They can't be over-emphasised.
