WHAT A WASTE OF TALENT

Has anyone actually thought that Ireland may have been nursed back into the side for his own good?

He collapsed on the pitch remember-and there was "no apparent cause."
No wonder the club were a little cautious-maybe there was more too it than we thought.

Apart from him recovering from a dodgy stomach before the swamp derby-which is another story for another day...let's just say he wasn't the only one....allegedly;-)

Agreed. As much as I love SI,the thought of a City midfield comprising of SWP,Petrov,Barry,De Jong,Johnson etc. being "one dimensional" is a little short-sighted.
Jamie Pollock,Jeff Whitley,Ged Brannan etc-now that's"one dimensional."

;-)

i guess mh is still trying to find the right system for the players and the best 11, we all have are own opinions on this , mh is the only one who can get to put his ideas into action where we all just argue and squabble on here hehehe... superman sould play as far as im concerned

Post like this do absolutely fuck all for our chances of achieving anything.

In the course of a successful season - ie actually winning something - different players will be involved and have differering levels of contribution at different times.

Ireland - like the rest of the squad - knows that when he's on the field he has to deliver and not, as has been the case sometimes, make you wonder whteher he was there.

You should listen to Hughes - patience. Beacuse Ireland can and will have a say on how this season turns out.

How the F8ck can a post on a forum damage our chances ????

You're right, the manager does call the shots. The shots he has been calling have led us to fourth in the league with a game in hand against Everton. Ireland has not been in form all season realistically or at least hasn't hit the form of last season, his dizziness cost him a place in the team and then competition for places in the team has never been so high so it'll be hard for him to get back in.

Why can't people see this as a good thing? Our best player last year is part of a squad now where we can replace quality with quality. Like replacing Bellamy with Petrov, replacing De Jong with Ireland (just examples)...the lists are endless. If we're to be going places, if we're to challenge on all fronts then we need this sort of play. Ireland should up his game if he wants a place and we'll see how much he wants it or whether he'll decide to leave and go to another team. It's his call at the end of the day. All I'll say is we'll learn more about Ireland's character than Hughes' in the coming months.

the OP has a string of negative posts over the last few weeks
always a good laugh, never anything of substance
Agreed. Apart from the obvious reasons I can't wait to see us win something, just so I can see the negative spin he (she?) puts on it. I can't recollect a single positive post from the OP. Constructive criticism is fine; constant putdowns of the players and/or manager is not. It just comes across as whining.

if ireland cant play in a 4-4-2, thats not hughes fault

I strongly disagree, when Ireland has played in a 442 by Hughes, he is played as the holding defensive midfielder or shoved out on the wing, that is Hughes fault. He is best playing in the centre of midfield, imho.

we are fourth though!

4th we are and that is excellent, but we have a massive advantage over many of our opponents, espeicially the top 4 by not playing in Europe, we also have the strongest squad in the premiership. The league really gets going in the second half of the season, Christmas on, then we will see how well we are doing. Given our advantages, I feel top 4 is more than realistic, 5th just ok, 6th or worse a disappointment. If we continue to adopt this negative low risk defensive style of play at home as well as away, 5th is likely to be the best we get.

Injury, Illness, Freak break down. He's only just getting back to full fitness. Look on the OS ' I thought it was the end'

I bet you believe in Santa, no the real one not RSC. I do not believe all these stories, they are just a spin put on the situation to lessen criticism.
