Just finishing - First to Kill - Andrew Peterson

Recently completed -
First Deadly Conspiracy Box Set - Rojer Stelljes
Dan Shepherd Series - Stephen Leather

Anybody suggest any good Thrillers

Patrick Robinson - did a great series of thrillers about submarines/navy seals/terrorists etc. Well worth a read, in fact it's reminded me to revisit some of his work because he must have a load of new stuff out since I last read him.

Nimitz Class (1997)
Kilo Class (1998)
H.M.S. Unseen (1999)
U.S.S. Seawolf (2000)
The Shark Mutiny (2001)
Barracuda 945 (2003)
Scimitar SL-2 (2004)
Hunter Killer (2005)
Ghost Force (2006)
To the Death (2008)

I've only read the first four but they were all very good. Time to give TCIB a call and get the rest for the kindle.

Cheers TCIB??

Just finished The Psycopath Test by Jon Ronson. Really enjoyed it and quite an interesting read but again, done in a light hearted way (if a book about mental illness, and in particular psycopathy could be).

After reading You're Not So Smart earlier as well, I'm giving some seriosu thought about doing a psychology course. Mind you, that might just be caused by the euphoria of actually finishing a couple of books for once!

Need to finish The Code Book by Simon Singh next, I think.

Johnathan Rendall This bloody Mary is the last thing i own.

Its a memoir of a boxing writer and failed promoter.

The sport of boxing is dying in a last explosion of dollars. Its beleaguered performers are reaching up for a last payday with bravery, one-liners and self-delusion. Fittingly it is in boxing's capital, in a faded downtown Vegas casino with a hooker for company, that the author, a boxing writer and sometime boxer's agent, reflects on his own exit from the scene. As the boxing world starts to recede, the characters he has lived with, and for, rear sharply into focus one last time: the astonishing Jack Kid Berg, and Kid Chocolate the Havana Dandy, and 'Sweet C' McMillan. This Bloody Mary is the journey of an obsession. It started innocently enough. But as it proceeds, the arc lights begin to shift, until even the shadows in the minds of those who inhabit and surround the ring seem caught in their glare.

Dave Gorman vs the rest of the world. I'm not a prolific reader these days but it's so well written that I'm getting through it really quickly. BimboBob told me there's a dark secret in there (or words to that effect) but I'm 2/3rds in and have no inkling what's going to happen at the end.

Dickens 'Pickwick Papers'. One of the funniest books I have ever read. Dickens first novel written when he was about 24. It was the beginning of the rise of a literary genius.

As my dear old Dad used to say, there are 2 types of people in the world. Those that have read Dickens, and those that haven't.

Well worth popping down to the local library and picking up a copy.
