Another great cycling book is 'The Death Of Marco Pantani - A Biography' by Matt Rendell.
A fascinating study of a great climber's fall from grace and tragic denouement.
"put me back on me bike" - were these really Tommy Simpson's last words?

'Put Me Back On My Bike' were indeed Tom's last words, according to his soigneur and the race doctor - it is also the title of William Fotheringham's fabulous biography of him, which along with 'Rough Ride' by Paul Kimmage are two of the best cycling books ever written, in my opinion.
Amazing as it seems nowadays, I actually cycled up Mont Ventoux in a different lifetime when I was much younger and fitter, and it was horrendous.
How tour riders take in this climb and four other hors categorie mountains as just another stage of the tour is beyond me.
Professional cyclists are a breed apart in terms of stamina and cardiovascular fitness.

Rough Ride by Paul Kimmage a great book mate, not long finished it

A Whole New Mind, Daniel Pink.
Makes out these are pretty exciting times for a daydreamer, ahem, 'visionary meta-thinker' like me.
Recommended if you like positive psychology.

Just finished Simon Singh's book on mathematics in The Simpsons ad Futurama.

It was alright, dragged a bit and was somewhat pedantically simplistic. Aimed more at a general audience who hasn't read any of his previous books

Just finished the 5 volume set of novels by Mark Berent, an ex-Vietnam fighter pilot. Written over 20 years ago and set in the Vietnam air war, if you're interested they are

Rolling Thunder
Steel Tiger
Phantom Leader
Eagle Station
Storm Flight

Now reading War of the Worlds for the first time - I think it could make quite a good film, as long as its not hijacked by the yanks and they set it in the US and get some pretty boy to star in the lead role.

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. Beautifully written, I am really enjoying it

I really hope no one is juvenile enough to point out that it's a book about a bird, written by a Tarrt.
