What do we need?

I believe KPB's attitude boils down to the fact that Milan currently lacks ambition and are in a financial mess and he wants to be in a team that is ambitious and right now teams such as Barcelona and Madrid are clearly scared of city's ambition . This is the best time to create a dream team and KPB would definitely be a key figure if we want to remain a strong side .

The problem with this, is that as soon as someone criticizes the team/squad you get lambasted by the shortsighted here as being disloyal and/or 'rag'.
When, in actual fact, you want success as much or more than they do, and are merely being analytical and honest.

Our first team isn't good enough to mount a serious challenge for the Champions League. We won the League, rightly, because the team were the best (just) - but next Season Chelsea and United will strengthen and so must we. We have to move on and improve.

The areas we MUST strengthen are:
1) Central defence: Lescott is NOT a world class defender. He always has a mistake in him, and makes these more often when under pressure. He's a pretty good Prem player - no more,no less.
2) Holding Midfield: Barry is the same as Lescott. He's not world class and NDJ isnt skillful enough for where we want to go.

Areas we should look at:
1) Nasri doesn't do enough and isnt good enough to be carried as a luxury.
2) AJ cant tackle/track back and Milner's too slow in speed and thought (although both are again pretty good Prem players)

So, in my opinion we need; A WORLD CLASS central defender AS AN ABSOLUTE MUST!, a holding midfield player, a left sided winger who tracks back (BALE obviously), and if funds allow a creative midfielder with a bit of drive, direct play and leadership (probably a german!).

My opinion....................................

What we need is a world class midfielder like Martinez who can slot in at CB if needed, a lightening quick winger and a striker in the mould of Falcao if both Dzeko and Tevez leave.

Our priority has to be selling players first which is why there is a lack of transfer activity so far i think.

A versatile defender/midfielder in the form of Javi Martinez.
A deep-lying playmaker in the form of Yann M'vila. Vital for CL IMO.
A winger who is going to be direct when we need a game-changer.

Also, certain squad players who are likely to leave need to be replaced as well.

Instead of being held to ransom by clubs, agents and players wage demands i would have a look at some of the emerging young talent in Europe at the moment. YOUNES BELHANDA (22) currently with Montpellier.....GASTON RAMIREZ (21) currently with Bologna.....JAVI MARTINEZ (23) currently with ATHLETICO BILBAO and MATS HUMMELS (23) currently with Borrussia Dortmund. We could get these lot for around £40 - 50 million. All young and would drastically improve alongside our Stars IMO.

Centre Half: Javi Martinez
I personally don't think Kolo Toure is up to it anymore, I've never been a big fan of his as I think he shirks physcial challenges but he's never recovered since the drug's ban. Stefan Savic is potentially a good player but I don't think he reads the game well enough, I know that improves with experience but there seems no natural defensive intelligence or positional awareness. Dedryck Boyata in my mind is a better prospect than Savic so I would certainly give him a pre-season to show us what he can do and give him the opportunity as 4th choice centre back and let him grow.

Left Back: Martin Olsson
Only if Alexander Kolarov leaves as I think he could be a good backup to Gael Clichy and wouldn't cost too much.

Central Midfield: Nuri Sahin
With Yaya Toure away at the ACON again in January/February, the possibility of Nigel De Jong leaving and Gareth Barry getting on a bit these days I would bring in Nuri Sahin from Real Madrid. He was sensational for Dortmund and absolutely ran there midfield, his passing range is sublime and he's a tough little fucker despite his lack of physical presence. I do think Jimmy Milner needs more game time though too and I would like to see Abdul Razak to out on loan to someone like Swansea to give him a bit of experience as well.

Winger: Gareth Bale
We're absolutely desperate for an old fashioned winger who can get to the line and provide a string of quality crosses but Bale provides so much more and his game is still developing and growing and I really think he would be the one to give us that different option to Nasri and Silva. I would also bring back Vladmir Weiss as an option within the squad too so we can let Adam Johnson go bring some much needed cash back in.

Versatile central defender - If we only sign a player who can just play cb we may be rotating our cbs to much which could cause disruption, if we sign someone like martinez who can play cm as well as cb we could give him games until either lescott or kompany are injured or need rest.
Targets - martinez/giorgio chiellini/hummels/vertonghen

Deep lying midfielder - Something we were missing last year we need a player who can spray balls across the pitch. If get martinez he can play a midfield role but im not sure whether he can be the person to spray passes around.

Targets - Sneijder/Modric/Strootman

Winger - Most important position we need to improve here, last season we were lacking width, pace and also a plan B a winger would solve these problems.

Targets - Bale

Striker - Said in a few threads tevez, aguero and ballotelli will all be here next season its just dzeko who may be the one to leave. Falcoa and van persie are the only 2 player I would definately see come in and upgrade us. If we could get either them players I would sell dzeko.

Targets - Van persie/Falcoa
