What do you want to see from our captain?

Yeah as above ^^

Understand I'm not trying to knock Dunnie for his playing, even if we did sign 2 world class CBs I'd be very happy if he stayed as a squad player. I just don't see that aggression or spark that all good captains have that gets everyone around them going and if they don't get going then they get bollocked.

So why is Hughes persisting with him? Hughes said he'd be captain for at least another season.

Nice to see another "Dunnie is shit" thread, seems this forum cant get enough of it, even when he has arguably been one of our best defenders the last few games and has certainly been our best player for the last 5 seasons.

The guy is captain because he's been at the club for years. He turned his career around and he is an inspiration to the younger players especially the likes of Ireland and hopefully Johnson. OK, he hasn't had a great season so far, but the last month or two he seems to have turned it around (the same cant be said for most of the other members of the squad).

To say that he should never have been given captain is ludacris. I didn't see any post questioning his captaincy last season? He's the same man, the same type of leader, with pretty much the same team around him bar 2 or 3. Some people on here just want to pick holes in everything right now, almost to the extent of making things up i.e. mancity1... what the frig are you on about??? Dunne would gladly give the captaincy up? You talk with so much conviction its as if you know him personally when really your just talking out your arse mate.

There isn't a template for leadership, and it certainly isn't just about bollocking people. Thats just old fashioned dinosaur thinking I would expect from a Graeme Souness, Joe Kinnear or Hughes (joke).

The first thing I want to see from a captain is performances on the pitch. A natural leader will organise on the pitch (Dunne does this well), he will be capable of changing the tempo of the way we are playing (not so well), and he will set the standard of behaviour and performances on and off the pitch (who knows but his performances haven't been great).

The thing is I would expect this from a natural leader whether he is wearing an armband or not. So I think if we are going to make a change, it will be to bring someone in the squad.

The band played on.

Spot on mate - It's starting to piss me off all these anti-Dunne threads - there are plently of players who have played worse than him season-I have to doubt whether some people have been watching City over the last 4 or 5 years when he was consistently our best player!

The players around Dunne aways made him look better than he was, particularly Distin and Richards last season. Now Richards has lost his way, Dunne's frailties are becoming more obvious. He's not terrible but who seriously thought he was our best player last season?

But that's City fans - we'd rather have a mediocre trier than someone with a bit of class who can take us to another level.
