Ive always wondered why that is. Does the bleakness during the winter drive the people who live there to heroin? Or do heroin addicts from over the country really like the beach so move there? Chicken or the egg

Holidaymakers all fuck off abroad leaving the hotels and accommodation short, fill up the vacant properties with transient people and you get Blackpool and other seaside places.

Enjoy that programme, and the RNLI are absolute fucking heroes. The lives they save are huge in number, and I like the fact that they do their best to save people’s boats, pets etc. Very non judgemental too, certainly on there programme they never give the people they rescued any shit for being there and getting them out. Heroes

I just watched this video about skilled/ professional young people leaving the UK and less skilled people moving in. It's a worrying trend if true. Plus the high cost of living coupled with stagnant wages.
I haven't lived in the UK for 36 years can you guys comment on this and how much truth there is in it ?

Hopefully after 14 years of self serving politicians in power the UK might become a bit more compassionate over self.

I see it in my work there's plenty growing up who understand their right but not their responsibilities.

I had a walk past a building site yesterday looking at the new housing being built near me. Talking to the builders there was sad: "it's for immigrants...if you want a house call 'abu babidabi du'...p8kis and blacks". The level of racism in just normal conversations is snow scary.

I'd agree - they are building homes they have no say on the eventual occupants so I'd say its simply their inner prejudices getting an airing. Also if it bothers them that much don't get involved in building them - oh yeah - money - not patriots just hypocrites.

I live in Halifax, I hear this all the time, usually when Bradford is mentioned.

For many here racism is the norm, they don't like Asians and they don't give a shit what anyone else thinks about it.

The argument for multiculturalism wasn't lost round here, it never happened, it was just imposed from above.

We live in a post modern world now, where folk talk predominantly to people like themselves, and everyone else can just fuck off.

According to some folk all new houses are for immigrants.
Ergo, we should not build new houses.

It's a very common argument and it suits the book of people who don't want new houses built near them.

I don't think life's that simple. Millions of people of all ages are not going to suddenly fuck off out of this country. But barring such an exodus, there is a shortage of housing. And young, white people, descended from Alfred the Great are just as screwed by it as anyone else.

Of course, if you already own your own house(s), you're sorted. They keep going up in value, so there'll be more for the state to seize when you have to go into care.
