What if we win 'nowt?

To win nothing would be a backward step. It's a title winning squad plus £100m of improvements after all.
It's too all-sweeping to make those sorts of claims. Expecting constant linear progression (i,e, you must improve on the previous season, every season) is unrealistic. We may have a bumper year this year. Imagine if we won the league, FA Cup and League Cup. Does that mean we've failed next season if we win nothing? Soriano's got it right with his idea of averages. High expectations of winning trophies, yes, overreacting to one disappointing season, no.

A backward step from last season ? Or did last season just not happen for all you Mancini acolytes ?

There are very few harping on about Mancini Billy. You're actually one of the main culprits. I've lost count of the times you bring him up when the poster you quote hasn't mentioned him.

To put it bluntly , you and several others ( both inners and otters) are spoiling the board for the majority.

Can you, and the other protagonists, let it go and move on ?.

Frankly, it's boring.

And so say all of us!

Happened to Arsenal few year back all in the space of a month i think (could be wrong on that though) so it's in the realms of possibility.
Let's just take it a game at a time and see what happens.

If it happens it happens.

In the summer we must address the situation that certain players although of the right quality are never fit. Whilst others need moving on and reinforcements brought in.

Also the introduction into the first team squad of those youth players that have a chance of making it.

After losing against Wigan last season in the FA Cup Final if we under perform in the League Cup final then questions need to be asked about the character of those players that take part.

Questions needed to be asked immediately after the Wigan FA Cup final game - not 9 months later!

Those questions had been asked long before the Wigan game in the corridors of power. Unfortunately everyone in the stadium had heard the answer before the game even kicked off.

Argh! You beat me to it ... although I'd have just gone with "they were answered with a P45 for the man responsible". :)

If I remember correctly our manager didn't play that day.
The players let the club, the team, the fans and themselves down that day.
No excuses and no one else to blame. So stop trying.

I think this is a bit of a rewrite of history.

City don't sack managers any more for having a bad season. Hughes was sacked because he was woefully underqualified and wasn't chosen by Abu Dhabi. Mancini was sacked because he couldn't or wouldn't fit into the structure that Soriano and Begiristan are building.

City is so much bigger than the City inside Mancini's head and even if he would have won the treble they'd be looking for an excuse to sack him because he was no longer the man for the job. This isn't a slight on him as a manager, it's a fact of what City was turning into. We wanted a Guardiola and he was a Ferguson if you follow my meaning, his methods are totally wrong for what City are now.

If Pellegrini wins nowt, he isn't getting the sack because he's had a bad season and Mancini didn't get the sack for that reason. Think we need to remember this when talking about any repercussions of winning nothing this year.
