What if we win 'nowt?

Sunderland seem to be our bogey team for what reasons I can't figure it out. We need a convincing display in the final and hopefully this will give the players an even bigger boost.

Momentum is key, so it might come to viewing the CL matches as something separate. If we fail in the CL, yet succeed in both forthcoming domestic cup encounters, then that should give us enough momentum to do well in the league too. The number of games would thin out and we'd hopefully have more players back, fewer injuries, and be able to field a more consistent eleven.

We need to win the League Cup and get that monkey off our backs. We need to play our strongest team available. If we will this it will be such a boost for everyone.

We can't let last years fa cup farce happen again, the players need to be in a mindset of not just turning up. Sunderland once again proved how dangerous they were at the stadium of light earlier this season.
Dangerous , you mean lucky

It'll be a real novelty to win nowt. Some of our fans have never experienced such a thing. They'll probably start supporting Chelsea.

Most of us will just look forward to the next season. I have an idea they might be a couple of signings in summer, and next year's team (and squad) will be better than this one, which is possibly/probably the best MCFC team (and squad) ever.

You make it sound like we are in the doldrums!

I am. We've not scored all week!

You know what I mean though. If we lose it doubts may set in and the scenario the OP posts could become a reality.

Happened to Arsenal few year back all in the space of a month i think (could be wrong on that though) so it's in the realms of possibility.
Let's just take it a game at a time and see what happens.

It can happen to anybody. It's happened to us for virtually every season since I started supporting!!

I can take it! Unlike a certain Portuguese sardine. As BFS told us, "He can't tek it! He can't tek it!"

They got the 3 points where we never looked like scoring.

This a much more realistic thread than any 'What if we win all 4?' rubbish.

It is entirely possible that we will win nothing. Clearly the best chance is the League Cup, but look at the Arse vs Birmingham, City vs Wigan for what can happen if you are complacent about such games - and we do have a history of demonstrating a lack of application against such teams. The FA Cup still has all the big teams still in it (at least till the next round has finished) and we play Chelski who must feel confident about how to beat us again. The CL was always going to be a long shot even if we manage to get by Barcelona. Finally the League - in the 'Will we win the league?' thread I was pessimistic about our chances given the chavs run in vs ours.

So, there is a pretty good case for us not winning anything. However, if the team go out with the right approach in EVERY game and Manuel can learn from setbacks such as Monday night); not that the signs are good in that regard - Demich in a 2 man central MF in a defensive role????????, I reckon we will secure at least one and possibly 2. This could be City's greatest ever season, or a reawakening of the dreaded 'T' word.

Winning nowt is nothing new to most of us..
A very good Leeds side chased a treble and lost out on them all.
The issue is that at this time given the investment we must win trophies now to cement the project..
The rags will come back make no mistake so now (and last year) we must pile up honours to build the brand and defeat FFP .
I'm loving our cavalier style but on a purely business point of view now is our time.....

I think we will win the league cup, finish 2nd in Prem, go out to Chelsea in the FA Cup (after a replay) and go out to Barca.

But at the start of the season I wanted top 3 any domestic cup and group stages of CL so I suppose that's ok its just that expectations had been lifted.

Too many injuries.
