what is going on with people my age!?

so there i was sat in the office tonight and there was a discussion between a few lads about what music artists they are planning on seeing. these lads being around my age 19-21.

they were going on about this jay z and kanye west concert and raving on about how sick it will be blah blah blah.

they were also going on about how good it was to watch some eminem and will i am concerts last year.

then they asked me if i was planning on going to see anything this year, the conversation went like this....

guy no1: "you going to see anyone decent this year mate"?

me: "stone roses mate"

guy no2: "who?"

me: "haha very funny"

guy no2: "no, i've never heard of them"

me: "THE stone roses"

guy no1: "you mean rollin stones?"

me: " you gotta be winding me up? ian brown?"

guy no2: "arrrr yeah he's pretty good, is he supporting them or something?"

me: "you pair of tit's, he's the lead singer".

guy no2: "no need to be like that mate, sorry we don't listen to grandad music".

me: insert facepalm.

i think i might fucking quit my job. shit thread i know but i needed to tell people.

i can kick the sh*t outta them no probs mate! some people just need education through a kickin` :D

I'm 20 and basically given up on music now. Everything is manufactured shite, and the bands that do show promise just get swallowed up as the industry doesn't recognise talent, so they can't afford to carry on.

I wish I'd been this age in the late 70's, early 80's for punk, smiths, new order first time round etc.

Now all I listen to is the underground house my mate listens to, as it's all I have access to.

There is, literally, a world of music out there, all different. There's no need to limit to what DJs or friends play. DJs play what's promoted (well most - people like John Peel were different) and, generally, what's promoted is promoted because it couldn't make it on its own. 'ere you wanna buy some shit? Is good shit, is verrrrrrry popular. Everyone buy it. Why you no wanna buy my shit?

i have the internet at home, but at uni no computer or speakers.
I know plenty of bands and stuff but I don't have the access to listen to them

I'm 15 and hardly anyone in my year has heard of the stone roses I live in Scotland but still no excuse. I get slagged rotten for liking madchester style of music and when I told them I was going to see the happy mondays they were just laughing and asking who they were. The majority of people my age have no clue about music these days.
