What is wrong with our support?

Seriously what is wrong? It is worrying as even though there were a number of "tourists" with their camera's out tonight there wasn't as many as Liverpool, United or Arsenal and it is going to get worse as real fans are priced out and replaced by these day trippers.

The support tonight was awful, something needs to change and quickly. Is it the logistics of the ground and set up or is it our attitude?

Why can we produce a European atmosphere like we did against Hamburg with a shitter team than in a must win game against Madrid with a fantastic team? Did the £5 tickets really bring in 20,000 missing supporters who support their side or do we relish being shit with a small hope of achieving something and then revelling in being let down again?

I agree it only got going when the team started playing, I also heard the geezer on gmr reffering to the atmosphere and I thought he was spot on in the fact that we wait to be entertained, I think we've been spoilt and as city fans we need to remember where we've come from. I was shocked near me as to how many japs/chinese/asians were there, it is the downside of being successful that prices will rise and this will stop a lot of real fans going and day trippers coming, its a double edged sword.
Also not being able to have a beer through finishing work late/starting early always kills the atmosphere a bit and you can't even have a quick en at half time, overall I was embarrassed last night but I did like when we all sung Mancini dead loud.

embarrassed by what exactly?

in the first half after they scored it was silent, thats when we're supposed to get behind em, I was embarrased by the lack of support when we were only 1 down

Shocked by `japs/chinese/ asians` being at the game! You should fuck off and watch someone else.

turfed out by who?

Most fans realised that even if we won the game, the chances of us progressing from the group were very small. And the half time score at Ajax made that chance even slimmer. Even after we equalised the thought that kept going through my mind was "Real Madrid will beat Ajax".

Compare the circumstances of the game with when we played United in April and its obvious that the atmosphere was never going to be great. As the bloke next to me said before kick off "I just hope we see a decent game".

thats a bit harsh, I didn't mean it in a racist way just shoked how many daytrippers were around me its just that these are instantly recognisable, there were probably a lot more white ones, its just you cant instantly tell that they are new fans<br /><br />-- Thu Nov 22, 2012 1:02 pm --<br /><br />
