What is wrong with our support?

Seriously what is wrong? It is worrying as even though there were a number of "tourists" with their camera's out tonight there wasn't as many as Liverpool, United or Arsenal and it is going to get worse as real fans are priced out and replaced by these day trippers.

The support tonight was awful, something needs to change and quickly. Is it the logistics of the ground and set up or is it our attitude?

Why can we produce a European atmosphere like we did against Hamburg with a shitter team than in a must win game against Madrid with a fantastic team? Did the £5 tickets really bring in 20,000 missing supporters who support their side or do we relish being shit with a small hope of achieving something and then revelling in being let down again?

I agree it only got going when the team started playing, I also heard the geezer on gmr reffering to the atmosphere and I thought he was spot on in the fact that we wait to be entertained, I think we've been spoilt and as city fans we need to remember where we've come from. I was shocked near me as to how many japs/chinese/asians were there, it is the downside of being successful that prices will rise and this will stop a lot of real fans going and day trippers coming, its a double edged sword.
Also not being able to have a beer through finishing work late/starting early always kills the atmosphere a bit and you can't even have a quick en at half time, overall I was embarrassed last night but I did like when we all sung Mancini dead loud.

the downside of being succesful isn't the visiting fans from other countries or daytrippers having a one off game. the downside is the "city die hards" that crawl out of the woodwork

Last night i had three complete idiots behind me in 118, locals from the sound of it 'die hard fans' from his dortmund half and half scarf.
the whole 90mins they bitched and moaned about everything, and i mean everything, slagging dzeko off, "not even worth a shirt" get him off and get tevez on, 10mins after tevez comes on, "tevez you're shit!!", yaya was lazy.
free kick in the first half just outside the box "aim for ronaldo's head, knock his head off". not aim for the goal or anything like that.
they were relentless, and from the sound of it probably at their first game in years. complete idiots

daytrippers as you call them don't get on the teams back and moan all the way through the game.

I dont think we "wait to be entertained". I think we still "wait for it to go wrong". We've not yet quite shaken off our recent history.

I've got plenty of them near me as well but most of em are season ticket holders, I had to collar one of em last night when he started going on that ya ya toure's shit, in my opinion he's one of the greatest players I've ever seen in a city shirt, which to be fair applies to half of this team we've currently got, this is the reason I agree with the op's points where he's checking all the different factors, I still had hope last night and I feel we as fans should be doing more, but fuck it I'm still gonna go dortmund, I bet I don't struggle getting a ticket for that.

Here's my two pennies though they're not worth much.

Was sat in 128, father-in-law used to have st in 221 but thought id treat him to a closer view for the game.

Everyone around us was quiet although I expected as much really. Only myself and one lass were even saying anything.

Now I'm no life long die hard, ny first game was arsenal away, last game at Highbury and try to get to as many games as I can considering I live down south but I have noticed that things are quieter now and I prefer the away games for the singing.

One thing I noticed last night was mostly everyone in 128 was singing Mancini after fo mourinho and I think it's definitely a sheep thing. If you dotted pockets of vocal fans around the stadium it might be quieter to start with but I'm certain over time it would help increase how vocal the quiet ones are. I was literally the only person during the quiet periods shooting near me last night but coming from a rugby background im used to singing all the way through a game so im less shy but I can understand why others who might want to be vocal might find it hard to let themselves go.

Otherwise I think last night was above average for games ive been to. Shame about the result :(

I don’t know how sound travels upwards in the ground but on my level (about 4/5 rows about the subs benches) the atmosphere was great, especially 2nd half, really lod. When Mourinho started shouting at someone everyone was telling him to shut up etc it was funny! Even though we drew I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

Was told by my boss (a Bolton supporter) who was on a corporate freebee that we got absolutely mullered and embarrassingly outplayed. Told him he was wrong and the free plonk must have gone to his head.

If only more matches were that fun!

You can't call sining "Mancini woah Mancini" a proper support. Sounds ridiculous.
Support City but not a temporary person with his contractual obligations

So don't sing for any players either??

every player is a temporary person with contractual obligations, should we never sing about any of them?

But they sing for Mancini every 10 minutes. Looks like he's everything for the club, but he is not. The Club comes first
