What is wrong with our support?

I don't want to be inflammatory but, I read a book last summer by a fan - forgotten name exactly but something akin to 'more money than god'? anyway, great read and may help explain some of the apparent apathy among some fans.

In essence; Struggling to feel so much passion for a club which no longer feels like 'ours'..........................

It's cost me another £100 on top of the ST so far to see the Champions League and in the run up to Christmas. Can fully understand why some have turned their back on it. I'm close to having to myself.

But let's get fucking real, if the trippers had been replaced with the regulars it still would have hardly been like Galatasaray would it?

The new folk all around us in the SS were okay. Joined in, had a laugh etc. in many ways better than some of the moaning cunts who normally sit round those parts.

I thought it was pretty good last night but should have been better given the occasion.Full of tourests though. I was in 111 and most of the songs came from 110, so tried to keep an ear out so I could join in and try and spread them into 111. The accustics really are bad on the lower tier as the songs were often drown out by the two obsolute fookin tossers behind me thinkin they were Mancini and giving constant opinions on the game-loudly so everyone around them could hear how knowledgable they are. I really couldnt handle being stood infront of two complete toss pots all season.

I think the club should look into extending some sort of roof goin from the bottom of the second tier over the bottom so the sound travels alot better.

that would give us a 20k stadium

I Dont think you understand. I was in 110 the other week,at the back ,so it was under where the 2nd teir overhangs and the sound travels so much better under there. I think it would improve the atmos and let the sound travel more if they could sort of attach a roof that comes out from the end of the second teir and extend over the bottom tier acting like a roof. Just think it would help the sound travel because at the mo its even hard to hear what the block next to you is singin especially when you have some fookin toss pot stood behind you trying to tell Mancini how to do his job for 90 mins. The fookin idiots were even sayin the kolo/yaya song was wank! They must have been rags.

-- Fri Nov 23, 2012 3:06 pm --

can you draw a picture with your crayons to give us a good idea of your grand master plan. sounds like a great idea.

I meant so it extends over the top of the bottom tier, acting like a roof. Not the full lengh, but even over half the block you help loads imo. Do you get it now??

its strange that many people in here think that our support is good enough. they just dont realize how awful it is. we are now playing at the european level, and we need to compare ourselves to other clubs in other countries. have a look on youtube.

if we want the stadium expansion then we need day trippers coming to the games..on the atmosphere topic i think every game should be like wednesdays game, loud and proud regardless of the result, youve paid your money so you may as well enjoy....would be great to hear eastlands as vocal as some turkish sides/italian sides

I grew up in Woodley and in the playground football was always blues vs reds fans. There were always more reds than blues (year approx 1985). I always go for the underdog and went blue! That's it for me, small child decision that has helped shape my life. I'm not an arrogant rag nob head like all the plastic rags I live among in south west Wales (oh and they hate the English, get your head around that??)

I agree, it wasnt good enough but then not bad for the standard we have shown of late. What is wrong with us! I really thought we would be loud as fook on weds but we wasnt. Im now startin to think that days like Hamburg are over. Im even losing confidence in derby day being loud!

In all fairness, Iv got no problem with tourests comin to games as longs as they learn the songs and join in and actually get behind the team. They might even improve things when you compare them to some of the 'too cool for school brigde' or constant moaners we have . The game on weds went on general sale and was never goin to be much less than £45 regardless, so we cant moan about proper blues being priced out. I was in 111 but fair play to 110. Noticed a few times now that that is where most of the songs are started and most the noise is comin from.

Expectation is what's wrong for me.

2 results last year created ridiculous expectations amongst us, both away wins, 5-1 at Spurs, and 6-1 at Old Trafford, most now seem to expect this every week, and when it doesn't start well (most weeks), the crowd never gets going.

Even on the final day last season, when we knew what was at stake, it never really got going, and we didn't lift the players when they needed it, they ended up lifting us. We need to get around this expectation of 5-0 every game, and get behind the team, especially if we fall behind.
