Don't think that's strictly true. The club knew a hefty punishment was coming and opted to pre-empt it in the hope of perhaps being treated a bit more leniently as a result. Still, it was a classy thing to do; can't imagine many other clubs doing the same.

In terms of the OP, blowing that 3-0 lead against Bournemouth was a right hefty kick in the bollocks.

Gelson fernandes against notts forest in FA cup few years ago. Getting beat by a team in a lower division at home. Utter disgrace of a performance and he tried to get the crowd going by waving his arms at us. He was playing indescribably badly and I just thought he was a cheeky bastard and completely gutless as a player. Couldn’t stand gelson fernandes.
