What problems will Covid solve ?

Globalisation is finished.
global tourism will be much lower.
schengen is meaningless as is the EU. Note that all nations closed borders and are bringing people home from around the globe.
Countries have banned export of medical equipment the moment this started, borders went up straight away.
The world will be very different and I think probably for the better. I expect manufacturing to become much more local and that will be good for the UK.
The airline industry will look very different.

I'm hoping it will make employers of office-based staff realise that:
* there is no need for so many employees to traipse miles into towns and cities, causing harm to the environment in the process, to sit in expensive-to-rent offices,
* there is no need for so many managers - most people can be trusted to manage themselves,
* the pointlessness of travelling hundreds of miles (London for example) to go to short meetings,
* not everyone needs to start and finish at the same time,
*that the public sector is vital.
*And last but by no means least... Liverpool not getting our trophy.
Excellent post mate.
And why do executives have to fly overseas for meetings when they can do it digitally.

Hopefully after Charles jumped the queue for Covid testing it will be another step towards a republic.
'were all in it together' is bollocks, its one law for royalty and another for us.

Less naked corporate greed hopefully.
Hopefully you are right, but I think that a lot of people are going to permanently lose jobs in the short and long term.
Companies have had to be dynamic and flexible. Far more work is being done from home, and firms are utilizing the internet more, like they may have not done previously.
Going forward, ideas borne out of these necessities will identify redundancies and excess and help to streamline processes.

I was charged £2.99 for a box of Paracetamol today so I have to agree with you. To be fair to the chemist she said it was the suppliers not them that had put the price up.
i was charged 29p at quality save in chorlton. i was only allowed to buy one box though

I mainly agree, but for a few modifications;

Globalization is absolutely not finished.
Manufacturing *will* become a little more local and counties will get a bit more protective of themselves, but global brands and global companies will still flourish and grow.
A lot of companies will have been forced to learn how to accommodate a lot of home-based employees. This will decimate business travel. Lots of people will still travel for pleasure and that change in mix will alter the airline industry. That may have been your point though.

I like how people think that anything will be learned from this. During the last pandemic, China banned these wild animal markets, and that only lasted a short time because basically money talks and governments are corrupt. As long as it remains cheaper to manufacture abroad, huge corporations are going to do it, and the inevitable financial crash will be all the excuse they need to argue against any restrictions on trade that might threaten a recovery.

For me personally, our school are using this as a reason to roll out virtual classes long term. To be fair, they were already doing it in some countries anyway, but now everyone in a company is being trained to do it so they might as well offer it.

It’s been nice to see knife crime and the senseless stabbing of gang members killing each other out of the news.
Maybe with time to ponder this could cease and the wasteful loss of young men could at least decrease.
