What will work against us?

Wilshere getting away with an out of control lunge and then a blatant shove in the back in the space of 2 or 3 minutes yesterday was swiftly followed by Kolarov being booked for his first 'foul' of the game, a fair challenge in which he won the ball.

I await a tv documentary which shows a whole range of video clips of almost identical incidents which deliver wholly different outcomes re refs' sanctions. There isn't a game I watch where there is so much similarity of infringement and so dissimilar outcomes. I was watching some Italian match yesterday where the guy who used to play for Swansea got somebody else's yellow card! Unbelievable, Jeff! The total lack of any consistency between refs is one thing, but when it's the same ref in the same match it's clear that some other directive is at work.

Think Liverpool will give us our toughest game in the league and obviously Barca will be very hard to get anything from.
Barca obvisously. Im looking forward to seeing how pep goes against liverpool, these just seem to be able to fluke goal us everytime. Coutinho won't score for 50 games yet he will pull a worldie out against us. So for me if pep can get a win again giddypool and restrict them scoring I think I will be confident on us winning the league.

Liverpool will work against us. They have this bullshit belief amongst their fans that they deserve to win the prem more than City and more than any other team.

They will have the belief, the work rate, the manager, media backing (There is always someone other than City they can support), the lack of EU games. They just dont have the players, yet.

If we ever implode it'll be our own doing.

Injuries will be the biggest factor. Though with the way the team is playing, we could well just keep rolling with confidence even without key players. Right now we have a full squad turning in performances; Unlike previous years where Aguero and Toure have been dragging us across the finish line.

Everton, spurs and Liverpool are the prem teams that will push us the most...all 3 playing really well and have the same high energy game as us which could cause us problems

Not seen much of chelski so not sure about them.

Arsenal - still play really good football but defensively they are weaker than the rest and if they try and go toe to toe with us then we will have a lot of space and could run riot

I so hope utd finish outside the top 4 (again!)...and there is a real chance that they could do this season as all the team mentioned above are better than them

think liverpool and spurs will push us all the way along with everton (if liverpool can get a bit more consistency).

If we have some luck with injuries.....Kun, Kompany silva KDB, Ilky and fernandhnio then we could be very difficult to stop.....

In all of this great start to the season people have missed that its without out Capt.....him fit and playing in this team (which he is made for) and leading like he does will make us even harder to beat and his passing out from the back is usually superb........which will make us even more dangerous as he gives more insurance to the players infant of him to go and do the damage

the barca game is going to really show where we are !!!!

Felt a bit uneasy watching Bravo 30 yards off his line for large parts of the game. I can see him getting lobbed a few times if he's not careful.

I reckon we might lose a couple of PL games as a result of the way we use Bravo. But two PL defeats per season wins the title.

It was interesting to listen to Pat Nevin talking about Bravo. He said that he listened to Pep's comments about Bravo's display in the derby and then watched the game again, trying to view Bravo's performance in the context of Pep's comments. He concluded that Pep was right!

Don't think Spurs are playing that well and may lose Kane for our match down there. Everton are a bit like us in that their wins are against lesser teams. The form side at present must surely be the Red Dippers. They have played 4 of the top teams and got 10 points although the loss at Burnley suggests they may struggle against sides parking the bus. Arsenal and Chelsea meet this weekend and neither side can really afford to lose. With a bit of luck we could be well ahead of either of these within the next few weeks. Firmly believe that whoever finishes above us will be champions.

Like you i think the red dippers are our biggest threat this year. I hate them and their self entitlement probably more than I hate utd to be honest

The lack of european football has now become a huge advantage, so I expect Liverpool to be major contenders.
As for games against City, it would appear that we're still vulnerable to a bit of niggle. So far it hasn't mattered, but we can't afford any more stupid red cards.

Thing with thinking Liverpool will be your hardest game is, we don't play you until New Years Day at Anfield, so nobody knows how either side will be doing then. I expect you to have too much for everyone to be honest, but with us, we have the tools to at least hurt you, which nobody has had so far. Also, you have complex about Anfield, which Guardiola will have to break. On the reverse, you have better players than anyone we've played so far and we can't keep a clean sheet against anybody. It could end up 3-3!!! Overall, I think you will win the League with points to spare, we will come top 4.

Can't argue with that (certainly the bit about our appalling record at Anfield)
Let's just see who gets suspended and injured.

Liverpool will have the organized press that can make our relatively risky play it out from the back approach more risky than usual. Individual mistakes could cost us greatly against teams such as Liverpool and maybe Spurs (I don't think they quite press the same). But if we pass through it we could certainly put up a silly number. I suspect it'll just be a high scoring affair where we hopefully punish them more than they capitalize on errors.

I still don't see us having much to trouble Barca. We're playing great stuff but we're playing the same stuff and they're doing it with more experience and unfortunately even more talent.

Our defence is not that good, can be exploited by top teams I feel. Played bottom four teams in the PL plus United until now, hopefully we do well while facing top ten teams too.

I honestly think that Liverpool will be our trickiest game. That said we have a manager who knows Klopp's setup and he will be studying them when the time comes along. Klopp also knows Pep's style but the minor details in this one will make the difference I reckon.

Anfield has been somewhat of a bogey ground, time to change that hopefully

Message to opponents: resistance is futile.

Seriously, though, we haven't been tested yet and I'd expect the dangers to be:

1) Long balls in the sense of quick, defence-splitting passes into space (not hoofball)
2) In-form sides combining energy and guile, and getting it right on the day, e.g. potentially Arsenal, Red Dippers
3) Loss of form/injury affecting key players, although we seem to be better covered than ever before
4) Normally I'd have said complacency but I don't believe Pep will allow it.

We haven't played well against teams that press so far.
All our opponents so far have ended up pushing 6 players up the pitch to press our defence (and defensive midfield) and the result has been successful, in that our possession figures dropped and the number of scoring opportunities we had decreased dramatically. In these circumstances, our players higher up the pitch were caught in two minds - go for the killer pass or try and keep possession - and they ended up doing neither particularly well.
Aside from this pace could be the killer. It will be interesting to see how our defence would operate against Vardy and some of the passes he got down the channels at the weekend.
