Where have all the Insects gone ?

Moths or Bats
Posssibly moths, but not bats. Hitting a bat at speed would, at the very least, crack the visor. It would be the loudest bang I'd ever heard if it was full on.

I've had a couple of glancing blows on my helmet from birds, and those shook my head.

It’s multiple reasons I think. Habitat destruction, farming, climate, pollution, replacement of native plants and trees with non native. As you say, the impact is felt all the way up the food chain. Insectivorous bird populations in the Uk have nearly all crashed.
The numbers of migratory Swallows Swifts and House Martin's also appear to be down, together with the almost total disappearance of The Eurasian Cuckoo..all insect eating birds.
Something is..not quite right.

Two years on....The decline in insects shows no signs of abating.
I think it's down to technology, wifi etc.
has anybody's opinion changed since 2022, and are folk seeing many insects.
Does anybody care
